CXCR3-binding chemokines in multiple myeloma.
Antonio Pellegrino,Francesco Antonaci,Francesca Russo,Francesca Merchionne,Domenico Ribatti,Angelo Vacca,Franco Dammacco +6 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated both in cell lines and fresh plasma cells that I-TAC, Mig and IP10 are able to induce tyrosine-kinase phosphorylation and chemotaxis, but not proliferation, and to increase the M MP-2 and MMP-9 gelatinolytic activity in the cell conditioned medium.

Chemically sulfated Escherichia coli K5 polysaccharide derivatives as extracellular HIV-1 Tat protein antagonists
Chiara Urbinati,Antonella Bugatti,Pasqua Oreste,Giorgio Zoppetti,Johannes Waltenberger,Stefania Mitola,Domenico Ribatti,Marco Presta,Marco Rusnati +8 more
TL;DR: The Tat‐antagonist capacity of chemically sulfated derivatives of the Escherichia coli K5 polysaccharide is reported, providing the basis for the design of novel extracellular Tat antagonists with possible implications in anti‐AIDS therapies.

Interleukin-27 Inhibits the Growth of Pediatric Acute Myeloid Leukemia in NOD/SCID/Il2rg−/− Mice
Alessia Zorzoli,Emma Di Carlo,Claudia Cocco,Emanuela Ognio,Domenico Ribatti,Elisa Ferretti,Carlo Dufour,Franco Locatelli,Daniela Montagna,Irma Airoldi +9 more
TL;DR: The first demonstration that AML cells injected into NOD/SCID/Il2rg−/− mice gave rise to leukemia dissemination that was severely hampered by IL-27 is provided, providing an experimental rationale for the development of future clinical trials aimed at evaluating the toxicity and efficacy of IL- 27.

Inulin based micelles loaded with curcumin or celecoxib with effective anti-angiogenic activity.
Delia Mandracchia,Giuseppe Tripodo,Adriana Trapani,Simona Ruggieri,Tiziana Annese,Theodora Chlapanidas,Giuseppe Trapani,Domenico Ribatti +7 more
TL;DR: It has been shown that encapsulation of CUR and CLX in INVITE micelles enhances of several magnitudes the water-solubility of C Curcumin and ClX, which may have interesting implications not only in anticancer or diabetic maculopathy therapy based on the anti-angiogenesis strategy but also for regenerative medicine where over-production of new vessels is required.

Angiogenesis-Inflammation Cross Talk in Diabetic Retinopathy: Novel Insights From the Chick Embryo Chorioallantoic Membrane/Human Vitreous Platform.
Sara Rezzola,Alessandra Loda,Michela Corsini,Francesco Semeraro,Tiziana Annese,Marco Presta,Domenico Ribatti +6 more
TL;DR: How the chick embryo chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) assay may represent a cost-effective and rapid in vivo tool for the study of the relationship between neovascular and inflammatory responses elicited by the vitreous humor of PDR patients and for the screening of novel therapeutic agents is described.
