Immunophenotypic characterization of telocyte-like cells in pterygium.
Cristina Maxia,Daniela Murtas,Michela Isola,Roberto Tamma,Ignazio Alberto Zucca,Franca Piras,Domenico Ribatti,Andrea Diana,Maria Teresa Perra +8 more
TL;DR: Because of the distribution and immunophenotype, TCs in pterygium may represent a subpopulation of relatively immature cells with regenerative potential and the expression of nestin may suggest possible involvement of TCs as active players in the regeneration of ultraviolet-damaged stroma and vascular remodeling.

TL;DR: JAM-A downstream pathways related to cytoskeleton rearrangement, cell proliferation, epithelial mesenchymal transition, invasion and MM dissemination in vitro and in vivo are functionally validated.

Mast cells and macrophages in duodenal mucosa of mice overexpressing erythropoietin.
Domenico Ribatti,Enrico Crivellato,Beatrice Nico,Diego Guidolin,Max Gassmann,Valentin Djonov +5 more
TL;DR: Data confirm that Epo, acting as a general stimulator of the hemopoietic compartment, is able to induce an expansion of two effectors of the immune response, mast cells and macrophages, in a specific peripheral site, the duodenal mucosa, in the tg6 mouse experimental model.

A potential role of erythropoietin in angiogenesis associated with myelodysplastic syndromes
TL;DR: A potential role of erythropoietin in angiogenesis associated with myelodysplastic syndromes is studied and implications for drug discovery and therapy are investigated.
