40-nm-wide tunable fiber ring laser with single-mode operation using a highly stretchable FBG
TL;DR: In this paper, a 750-Hz linewidth singlemode erbium-doped fiber (EDF) ring laser with wide tunability using a widely tunable fiber Bragg grating was demonstrated.

High-Capacity Free-Space Optical Communications Between a Ground Transmitter and a Ground Receiver via a UAV Using Multiplexing of Multiple Orbital-Angular-Momentum Beams
Long Li,Runzhou Zhang,Zhe Zhao,Guodong Xie,Peicheng Liao,Kai Pang,Haoqian Song,Cong Liu,Yongxiong Ren,Guillaume Labroille,Pu Jian,Dmitry Starodubov,Brittany Lynn,Robert Bock,Moshe Tur,Alan E. Willner +15 more
TL;DR: This work experimentally demonstrates and characterize the performance of an OAM-multiplexed, free-space optical (FSO) communications link between a ground transmitter and a ground receiver via a moving unmanned-aerial-vehicle (UAV).
Dynamic dispersion compensation in a 10-Gb/s optical system using a novel voltage tuned nonlinearly chirped fiber Bragg grating
Kai-Ming Feng,J.-X. Chai,Victor Grubsky,Dmitry Starodubov,M.I. Hayee,S. Lee,X. Jiang,Alan E. Willner,Jack Feinberg +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a novel nonlinearly chirped fiber Bragg grating was used in a 10-Gb/s system with a single piezoelectric transducer continuously tuning the induced dispersion from 300 to 1000 ps/nm.

TL;DR: This work measures an object's opening angle using orbital-angular-momentum (OAM) -based complex spectrum, achieving a >15 dB signal-to-noise ratio and finds that the dip and slope of the OAM phase spectrum are dependent on the opening's orientation but independent of the opening angle.

Reconfigurable optical packet header recognition and routing using time-to-wavelength mapping and tunable fiber Bragg gratings for correlation decoding
TL;DR: This work achieves reconfigurable optical header recognition and penalty-free routing of a 2.5 Gb/s packet stream with a 1.6-ns guard time using cross-gain compression in a semiconductor optical amplifier for time-to-wavelength mapping and two fiber Bragg grating arrays for tunable correlation decoding.
