Validation and Development of Loss Models for Small Size Radial Turbines
Jan F. Suhrmann,Dieter Peitsch,Marc Gugau,Tom Heuer,Uwe Tomm +4 more
- 10 Oct 2010
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the most important loss models implemented in the new code and weights their relative importance to the performance of small-size radial turbines, i.e., turbines of inlet diameter smaller than 40 mm.

Three-Dimensional Flow Field in Highly Loaded Compressor Cascade
TL;DR: In this article, the influence of blade loading on the development and interaction of secondary flow structures within an annular compressor stator cascade (CSC) is examined, and the experimentally obtained results give detailed insight on the effect of the incidence of the clearance vortex, horseshoe vortex, and passage vortex.

Transition Mechanisms in Laminar Separated Flow Under Simulated Low Pressure Turbine Aerofoil Conditions
TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe the transition process in the presence of a separation bubble with low Reynolds number, low free-stream turbulence, and steady main flow conditions, and compare the experimental data with two categories of correlation functions also given in the open literature: correlations predicting the onset of transition and correlation predicting the mode of separated flow transition.

On the Effect of Volute Tongue Design on Radial Turbine Performance
Jan F. Suhrmann,Dieter Peitsch,Marc Gugau,Tom Heuer +3 more
- 11 Jun 2012
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of different geometrical volute parameters on the flow condition especially at the turbine wheel inlet area is investigated and a design guideline is developed to estimate the influence of the geometric volute parameter on flow and to raise the quality of the preliminary design process.

Prestall Instability in Axial Flow Compressors
TL;DR: In this article, a set of pressure transducers evenly distributed along the circumference surface mounted in the casing near the rotor tip leading edges measured the time-resolved wall pressures simultaneously to an array of transducers recording the chordwise static pressures.
