Modulation of all-trans retinoic acid-induced MiRNA expression in neoplastic cell lines: a systematic review
Lara Lima,Thaisa Cristina Tavares de Melo,Diego Marques,Jéssica Nayara Góes de Araújo,Isabela Samária Fernandes Leite,Camila Xavier Alves,Julieta Genre,Vivian Nogueira Silbiger +7 more
TL;DR: The presence of ATRA in the culture medium of cancer cells was able to modulate the expression of more than 300 miRNAs, and inhibit invasive behavior and deregulated growth of cancer Cells, resulting in total tumor remission in some cases.
Novel Microsatellite Markers Used for Determining Genetic Diversity and Tracing of Wild and Farmed Populations of the Amazonian Giant Fish Arapaima gigas.
Paola Fabiana Fazzi-Gomes,Jonas Aguiar,Diego Marques,Gleyce Fonseca Cabral,Fabiano Cordeiro Moreira,Marília Danyelle Nunes Rodrigues,C. S. Silva,Igor Hamoy,Sidney Santos +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, a panel composed by 12 microsatellite markers for individual and population genetic tracing of Arapaima gigas was developed. But the results revealed low rates of genetic diversity in all populations, a loss of diversity and high inbreeding rates in farmed populations, and genetic structuring among wild and farmed A. gigas populations.

miRNAs as biomarkers of orofacial clefts: A systematic review.
Sissy Maria Dos Anjos Mendes,Daybelis González Espinosa,Paulo Eliezer de Oliveira Moreira,Diego Marques,Nathalia Carolina Fernandes Fagundes,Ândrea Ribeiro-dos-Santos +5 more
TL;DR: This systematic review aimed to identify miRNAs associated to non-syndromic orofacial clefts in humans and suggested broader population sampling in order to include diverse ethnic groups in the future and analyses towards identifying miRNA target genes and pathways.

A new panel of SNPs to assess thyroid carcinoma risk: a pilot study in a Brazilian admixture population
Isabelle Cristina Clemente dos Santos,Julieta Genre,Diego Marques,Ananília Medeiros Gomes da Silva,Jéssica Cavalcante dos Santos,Jéssica Nayara Góes de Araújo,Victor Hugo Rezende Duarte,Angel Carracedo,María Torres-Español,Gisele Medeiros Bastos,Carlos Eduardo Crispim de Oliveira Ramos,André Ducati Luchessi,Vivian Nogueira Silbiger +12 more
TL;DR: These nine polymorphisms could be potential biomarkers of predisposition to thyroid carcinoma in the population from Rio Grande do Norte and complementary studies should be conducted to confirm these results.
Role of miRNAs in Sigmoid Colon Cancer: A Search for Potential Biomarkers.
Diego Marques,Diego Marques,Layse Raynara Ferreira-Costa,Lorenna Larissa Ferreira-Costa,Ana Beatriz Bezerra-Oliveira,Romualdo da Silva Correa,Carlos Cesar de Oliveira Ramos,Tatiana Vinasco-Sandoval,Katia de Paiva Lopes,Ricardo Assunção Vialle,Amanda Ferreira Vidal,Vivian Nogueira Silbiger,Ândrea Ribeiro-dos-Santos +12 more
TL;DR: The miRNA expression profile of sigmoid colon cancer compared to adjacent-to-tumor (ADJ) and sigmoids colon healthy (SCH) tissues obtained from colon biopsy extracted from Brazilian patients was evaluated and it was shown that the three types of colon tissue could be clearly distinguished using a panel composed by the 20 DEmiRNAs.
