A bioactive material with dual integrin-targeting ligands regulates specific endogenous cell adhesion and promotes vascularized bone regeneration in adult and fetal bone defects
Dake Hao,Ruiwu Liu,Tomas Gonzalez Fernandez,Christopher D. Pivetti,Jordan E. Jackson,Edwin Kulubya,Hong Jiang Jiang,Hai-yang Ju,Wen-Liang Liu,Alyssa Panitch,Kit S. Lam,J. Kent Leach,Diana L. Farmer,Aijun Wang +13 more
TL;DR: Li et al. as mentioned in this paper proposed a biomaterial to regulate endogenous cell adhesion and promote vascularized bone regeneration by presenting two synthetic ligands, LLP2A and LXW7, explicitly targeting integrins α4β1 and αvβ3, expressed on the surfaces of the cells related to bone formation and vascularization.

Indication for pediatric muscle biopsy determines usefulness
TL;DR: Muscle biopsy for neuromuscular disorders is inconsistently useful, and specific diagnoses are occasionally revealed, but treatment changes are infrequent except in those patients with suspected neoplastic or inflammatory disease.

Fetal neurosurgery: current state of the art
TL;DR: Improved understanding of congenital diseases and in fetal surgical techniques have reopened the door to applying fetal surgery to other congenital CNS abnormalities, and advances in gene therapy, bioengineering and neonatal neuroprotection will aid in the future expansion of fetal neurosurgery to other CNS disorders.

Antenatal steroid and tracheal occlusion restore vascular endothelial growth factor receptors in congenital diaphragmatic hernia rat model.
Augusto F. Schmidt,Frances Lilian Lanhellas Gonçalves,Azize Cristina Capelli Nassr,Luis Antonio Violin Dias Pereira,Diana L. Farmer,Lourenço Sbragia +5 more
TL;DR: Vascular endothelial growth factor signaling disruption may be associated with pulmonary hypertension in congenital diaphragmatic hernia and tracheal occlusion and steroids provide a pathway for restoring expression of vascular endothelial grow factor receptors.

Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on surgical trainee education and well-being spring 2020-winter 2020: A path forward.
Jin Haritaworn,E. Christopher Ellison,Alisa Nagler,Steven C. Stain,Jeffrey B. Matthews,Kathryn Spanknebel,Mohsen Shabahang,Patrice Gabler Blair,Diana L. Farmer,Richard Sloane,L.D. Britt,Ajit K. Sachdeva +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on surgical education and learner well-being (LWB) and found that severe disruption was stage dependent (Stage 3; 45% (83/184) vs. Stages 1 and 2; 26% (206/801) p = 0.02.
