Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are rapidly developing these days and are expected to impact the field of project management on multiple levels; however, there remains a high level of uncertainty regarding the effect that AI might have on project management practices. This article aims to address this topic based on a Delphi study with a panel of 52 project management experts who reflected on future potential AI applications for the project management Knowledge Areas. The article provides a visionary perspective that can be further translated into practical solutions in the near and far future to improve project management practices.

The Expectations of Project Managers from Artificial Intelligence: A Delphi Study

Algorithmic decision-making implemented through artificial intelligence (AI) projects is augmenting or replacing human decision-making across numerous industries. Although AI systems may impact individuals and society in life-and-death situations, project organizations or plans may ignore the concerns of the passive stakeholders. This research describes the components, lifecycle, and characteristics of AI projects. It employs stakeholder theory and a systematic literature review with thematic analysis to identify and classify individuals, groups, and organizations into six stakeholder project roles. It configures the stakeholder salience model with a harm attribute to identify passive stakeholders—individuals affected by AI systems but powerless to affect the project—and their nexus to the project. The study contributes a novel method for identifying passive stakeholders and highlights the need to engage developers, operators, and representatives of passive stakeholders to achieve moral, ethical, and sustainable development. • The study provides descriptive information on artificial projects, including the life cycle, project characteristics, project roles, and stakeholders. • It highlights how artificial intelligence projects differ from other projects based on the harms, damages, and losses they can impose on individuals, society, and the environment. • It underscores why project owners, project managers, project teams, and operational organizations are moral agents responsible for the systems they develop. • It identifies passive and representative stakeholder roles that should be considered by project managers and sponsors in the early stages of planning to account for, include, and engage stakeholders. • It demonstrates an innovative use of applying the stakeholder salience model's harm and urgency attributes to identify and classify project stakeholders.

Project Management Information System (PMIS) adalah suatu sistem alat dan teknik yang digunakan dalam manajemen proyek untuk menyampaikan informasi. PMIS digunakan untuk membandingkan baseline dengan actual project dari setiap kegiatan, mengelola material dan merecord catatan untuk tujuan pelaporan. PMIS digunakan untuk menggantikan pekerjaan proyek yang selama ini dilakukan secara manual. Masalahnya adalah apakah Project Management Information System yang telah diimplementasikan sekarang ini dapat memenuhi harapan dari Project Implementator ? Apakah PMIS ini dapat membantu mempercepat pekerjaan proyek ?Kendala-kendala selama ini sewaktu melakukan pekerjaan dokumen project adalah delay dalam hal pengumpulan hasil uji terima yang disebabkan oleh jarak pengiriman, banyaknya dokumen yang harus diproses dalam waktu bersamaan, banyaknya lembaran dokumen yang harus melalui proses approval dan inisiasi pejabat terkait, sehingga membutuhkan waktu dan effort yang tidak sedikit. Semua dokumen tersebut dikerjakan secara manual, baik dalam penyusunan maupun pemeriksaan awal. Permasalahan yang terkandung didalam pertanyaan diatas adalah object penelitian yang diharapkan dapat memberikan jawaban. Penelitian dilakukan dengan melakukan survey kepada pemakai PMIS yang sebelumnya menggunakan sistem secara manual. Penelitian ini menggunakan Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Penggunaan model TAM didasarkan pada Kenyataan bahwa sejauh ini TAM merupakan sebuah konsep yang dianggap paling baik dalam menjelaskan perilaku user terhadap sistem teknologi informasi baru. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah vendor-vendor yang terkait, staf admin project dan project Manager. Analisa dilakukan dengan SEM (Structural Equation Modelling) dengan software AMOS (Analysis of Moment Structures) version 6.0.

Cognitive psychology and knowledge-based applications engineering are at the heart of AI. AI-assisted quicker computing approaches are being used to address complex difficulties. Simultaneously, new, and more complicated issues emerge, which are difficult for the human mind to understand and envision, and which are far from being solved. Dynamic developments in global technical, economic, political, and environmental settings provide insurmountable challenges to corporate executives and strategists. Projects and project management are used to carry out business plans and government welfare goals. Throughout the project&#x0027;s timeframe, project managers must cope with restrictions. Regardless of methodology, predictive or iterative, the existence of various stakeholders and managing their requirements creates a slew of issues for the project manager and team. This paper aims to explain the existing industrial procedures employed by project managers that utilize AI principles. The author&#x0027;s aim is to set out obstacles and realistic alternatives for next generation project managers to apply AI in managing stakeholder expectations, resolving dissent and conflicts, and assuring flawless project delivery. 

Use of Artificial Intelligence Smart Tools in Projects

In most large companies, management has long recognized a deficiency in project management and quality assurance (QA) concerning information systems development and maintenance projects. This paper provides a practical, prototypical artificial intelligence-based approach to solving these ill-structured problems. The authors show how a hybrid intelligence system with expert system and artificial neural network components can be used to aid in project estimate validation and quality prediction of the deliverables. The output from such a hybrid system then can be used in a traditional project management timeline tool for collecting the estimate information, tracking the project through its completion. The authors also provide guidelines for large-scale development of such systems.
