Estimates of genetic and environmental variability in soybeans (Glycine max. L.) [Egypt].

Study of Genetic Parameters in Soybean Germplasm Based on Yield and Yield Contributing Traits

DOI:10.15580/GJPBCS.2018.3.111418158 The aim of the study is assessing the nature and magnitude and revealing the genetic correlation among the traits and partition the genetic correlations into direct and indirect effects so that to estimate direct and indirect effects of various character on grain yield. Twenty-four soybean accessions, sown at Asosa agricultural research centre, Asosa (Ethiopia) were evaluated by using randomized completely block design with three replicates for the estimation of genetic variability, heritability, genetic advance, correlation, path analysis and genetic Divergence in twentyfour soybean genotypes obtained from introduction and some two local checks. Observation on 18 agronomic and morphological were observed. Analysis of variance a significant (P ≤ 0.05) to highly significant difference (P ≤ 0.01) among the genotypes among for all the characters, but for days to maturity, number of seed per pod, inter-node length and total nodules weights. The phenotypic coefficient of variance was found superior than the genotypic coefficient of variation for all traits studied, showing that the variation is not only genetic but also influenced by growing environments in the expression of the traits. The genotypic coefficient of variation was high for days to maturity, plant height, number of seed per plant, grain yield per plant and fresh biomass weight. High heritability coupled with high to moderate genetic advance was estimated for seed yield per plant was positively and significantly correlated with plant height, pods per plant, and days to 50 per cent flowering and days to maturity. Pod per plant recorded highest positive direct effect on seed yield per plant followed plant height. The information that generated from the study will be useful for grain yield and yield contributing traits, especially from the soil and root architecture and nutrient absorptions. Path analysis, Genetic variability and Correlation studies for Soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merill) for grain yield and Secondary traits at Asosa, Western Ethiopia

The present investigation entitled “Identification of promising heterotic combinations for yield and yield attributed traits in Indian mustard [B rassica juncea (L) Czern & Coss]” consists analysis of 15×15 half-diallel set of crosses in Indian  mustard  revealed that non-additive gene effects was found to be predominant for  secondary branches per plant, whereas preponderance of additive gene effects for the inheritance of rest of the characters The evaluation of heterosis revealed that PRB-2004-3-4×PRE-2009-9(-9627**), Bhaghirathi ×PRE-2009-9 (-1653**), RGN-145×PR-2006-1(-464**) for early maturity, PRB-2008-5× PRB-2004-3-4 (-2437**), PRB-2008-5×PRE-2009-9 (-2489**), PRE-2009-9×NDYR-8 (-2332**) for dwarf plant height, PR-2006-1×NDRE-4 (20174**), PR-2006-1×NDYR-8 (13726**), Maya×PRE-2004-3-4 (4026**) for seed yield, PRE-2009-9×NDYR-8 (1584**), RGN-74×PRE-2007-6 (291**), Maya×NDYR-8 (209**) for oil content, most promising were heterotic crosses for mid parent heterosis, better parent and economic heterosis respectively All three type of heterosis with respect to over mid parent, better parent and standard check were observed significant in desirable direction for all the characters except glucosinolate content The manifestation of high amount of heterosis for seed yield and component traits by a large number of crosses suggesting need to maintain heterozygosity in the population for maximum expression of traits in desirable direction Foregoing results and inferences revealed that the presence of wide spectrum of exploitable variability in research material studied with respect to various quantitative traits projecting, thereby, immense scope for genetic improvement in Indian mustard Therefore, with the help of heterosis studies, the superior cross combination of promising hybrids could be identified for developing high yielding cultivars

Heterosis analysis for yield and yield attributed traits in Indian mustard [Brassica juncea (L.) Czern & Coss]

The objective of this research was to evaluate soybean genotypes for immune/resistance to Rhizoctonia aerial blight, Bacterial pustule, and mosaic under field conditions in Tarai regions of Uttarakhand. The experiment was conducted at N. E. Borlaug Crop Research Centre, G.B Pant University of Agriculture and Technology Pantnagar, Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand which is considered as hot spot for these diseases. Only accession AMS 115 showed resistant with disease rating of 1 for all the three diseases i.e. YMV, BP and RAB, indicate no damage by all three important diseases. whereas 12 accessions (GP 499, JS 20-72, G5P22(IR), PKS 54, JS 20-80, PS 1241, Cat. 586, Cat. 751, PS 1347 (C), PS 1092 (C), Bragg (C) and PS 1042 (C) showed resistant with disease rating of 1 for YMV and BP, showing no damage by YMV and BP.

Indian mustard [Brassica juncea L. (Czern & coss)] is an important oil seed crop of the world. It plays a major role in catering edible oil demand of the country. Indian mustard (Brassica juncea) is a major oilseed crop of the Indian subcontinent covering more than five million hectares during the winter season. It is also grown in Australia, China, CIS and Canada. Indian mustard is a predominantly self-fertilized crop with 5-15 per cent crossfertilization. The oil content of mustard varies between 28.6 to 45.7 per cent. Oils and fats are essential components of our daily diet and also a major source of raw material for a wide range of products required in our life. Oil extracted from the seeds of these crops is used for cooking, frying, spice, for seasoning of the food articles, vegetables and industrial purposes.
