Al hacer esto, este documento nos recuerda que la proteccion y la seguridad no ocurren en forma espontanea, sino que son el resultado de un consenso colectivo y de politicas publicas dirigidas a tal fin.

The birth of a child requires a rearrangement of roles in the family. However, if this birth is marked by the arrival of a child with a disability, it may cause instability in the family, due to the break of parental expectations about an ideal baby. The present article aims at presenting a review of research findings and discussing them in order to promote a reflection on the characteristics of Down syndrome (DS) and its impact on child development and family, focusing on the risk and protection factors that affect this population ́s health. The Bioecological theory of Human Development, which establishes inter relationship of individual and environmental factors, has been used as theoretical framework for the discussions of the results.From this theory, the Birth of a child with Down syndrome requires an adaptation of the family context, since children with DS are exposed to environmental factors that may influence their development. Nevertheless, scientific literature points out to the advances of knowledge in the area, and it identifies risk and protective factors that can work for the development of children with DS. In conclusion, the risk and protection factors potentially of children with DS are very similar to the children without disabilities. An important emphasis should be placed on factors of the macrosystem for the population with disabilities, more specifically for people with DS, as the advancement of knowledge about this syndrome and the development of specific public policies can increase life quality and

School and family constitute two developmental contexts essential for the lifespan trajectories. In this article, it is highlighted the contribution of both contexts to human development promotion, emphasizing their implications on evolutionary processes. The issues about family links, configurations, and the importance of the social support network for family development are discussed. The school functions are focused considering their influences on developing persons. Considerations are also made about the necessity of understanding the inter-relations between the school and the family, aiming to promote learning and human development. The integration between these two contexts is a challenge for both the professional practice and the empirical research.

Decision making in sexual abuse situation is a complex task involving different sources of information as well as non-obvious or subjective infl uences. The decision made by a professional can produce relevant consequences for the people involved. An online survey with 95 Brazilian bachelors in Psychology was conducted and it evaluated the decision-making in a fi ctitious case of sexual abuse and its relations with cognitive, sociodemographic and professional variables. In addition, the infl uence of the presence of representative characteristics of cases of sexual abuse in decision-making by professionals was evaluated from the Decision Making Scale in Child Sexual Abuse, an instrument developed for this study. However, representative characteristics of sexual abuse had signifi cant relations with the evaluated probability of the case. This result means that the probability of the case being considered true is higher when more representative characteristics has the case. Decision-making in these situations, despite being carried out by professionals every day, is still unknown and deserves further investigations.

This article presents a theoretical revision and a critical discussion, from a clinical case, about resilience concept in the hospitalization context. Scielo and BVS-Psi based the literature review. Resilience, as individual capacity to face risk situations in a healthy way, presenting adaptive answers to adversities, it is an important concept to be understood by health professionals. Analyzing sickness during hospitalization period in general hospitals, allows a better understanding of facilitating conditions to resilience and open possibilities for prevention work and health promotion in these institutions.

Processos de resiliencia no contexto de hospitalizaçao: Um estudo de caso

This study investigated resilience processes in adolescents with type 1 diabetes, identifying risk and protective factors through multiple case studies. The participants were three adolescents (two boys and one girl), aged 13 to 14 years old, who were patients at an institution specialized in treatment of diabetic patients, and their mothers. The instruments used consisted of semi-structured interviews and the Five Field Map. The interviews were designed to investigate how these patients take care of their own health, how they cope with the disease, the benefits and losses of having diabetes, as well as personality characteristics and future plans. Qualitative content analysis was carried out using WebQDA software, based on the Bioecological Theory of Human Development. It was found that protective factors such as social support, emotional attachment and personal characteristics of self-esteem, optimism and altruism contributed to the expression of resilience processes. Conclusions highlight the importance of strengthening the support network as a protective factor for coping with type 1 diabetes, especially through the integration between the different contexts in which teenagers are inserted.
