Dynamical Formation of Close Binary Systems in Globular Clusters
David Pooley,Walter H. G. Lewin,Scott F. Anderson,Holger Baumgardt,Alexei V. Filippenko,Bryan Gaensler,Lee Homer,Piet Hut,Victoria M. Kaspi,Victoria M. Kaspi,Junichiro Makino,Bruce Margon,Steve McMillan,Simon Portegies Zwart,Michiel van der Klis,Frank Verbunt +15 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present conclusive observational evidence of a link between the number of close binaries observed in X-rays in a globular cluster and the stellar encounter rate of the cluster, and make an estimate of the total number of LMXBs in globular clusters in our Galaxy.

X-Ray and Optical Flux Ratio Anomalies in Quadruply Lensed Quasars. I. Zooming in on Quasar Emission Regions*
TL;DR: In this article, a comparison of the flux ratio anomalies between the X-ray and optical bands of the lensed quasars is made, and it is shown that the optical emission regions are typically larger than expected from basic thin-disk models by factors of 3-30.
A Neutron Star with a Massive Progenitor in Westerlund 1
Michael P. Muno,J. S. Clark,Paul A. Crowther,Sean M. Dougherty,R. de Grijs,Casey J. Law,Stephen L. W. McMillan,Mark Morris,Ignacio Negueruela,David Pooley,S.F. Portegies Zwart,F. Yusef-Zadeh +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, the discovery of an X-ray pulsar in the young, massive Galactic star cluster Westerlund 1 was reported, and the properties of the pulsar indicate that it is a magnetar.
Dynamical Formation of Close Binaries in Globular Clusters II: Cataclysmic Variables
David Pooley,Piet Hut +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a thorough analysis of a homogeneous Chandra data set was conducted, and it was shown that the majority of CVs in globulars have a dynamical origin.
