The present invention is directed to perform fine low-voltage control without largely increasing the circuit layout area in a low-power consumption structure. In the case of shifting a region to a low-speed mode, a system controller outputs a request signal and an enable signal to a power switch controller and a low-power drive circuit, respectively, to turn off a power switch and to perform a control so that the voltage level of a virtual reference potential becomes about 0.2 V to about 0.3V. The region operates on voltages between a power supply voltage and a virtual reference potential, so that it is controlled in the low-speed mode.

A third set of transistors stores the data value and provides the output signal during the holding mode. The input and output signals have rail-to-rail voltage swing. In another aspect, a signal generator includes at least one latch and a control circuit. The latch(es) receive a clock signal and generate an output signal. The control circuit senses a duty cycle of a feedback signal derived from the output signal and generates a control signal to adjust operation of the latch(es) to obtain 50% duty cycle for the feedback signal.

Methods and apparatus to schedule applications in heterogeneous multiprocessor computing platforms are described. In one embodiment, information regarding performance (e.g., execution performance and/or power consumption performance) of a plurality of processor cores of a processor is stored (and tracked) in counters and/or tables. Logic in the processor determines which processor core should execute an application based on the stored information. Other embodiments are also claimed and disclosed.

Application scheduling in heterogeneous multiprocessor computing platforms

Techniques are provided for reducing mismatch between the in-phase (I) and quadrature (Q) channels of a communications transmitter or receiver. In an exemplary embodiment, separate voltages are applied to bias the gates or bulks of the transistors in a mixer of the I channel versus a mixer of the Q channel. In another exemplary embodiment, separate voltages are applied to bias the common-mode reference voltage of a transimpedance amplifier associated with each channel. Techniques are further provided for deriving bias voltages to minimize a measured residual sideband in a received or transmitted signal, or to optimize other parameters of the received or transmitted signal. Techniques for generating separate bias voltages using a bidirectional and unidirectional current digital-to-analog converter (DAC) are also disclosed.

I-q mismatch calibration and method

A precise and programmable duty cycle generator which can produce a user definable duty cycle clock signal with precision. This circuit is comprised of a number of generally known circuit elements such as a digital to analog converter (DAC), low pass filter (LPF) and operational transconductance amplifier (OTA), as well as a unique voltage controlled duty cycle generator (VCDCG). The circuit has the ability to produce a user programmable duty cycle clock signal with precision over a broad range of operational frequencies. The VCDCG circuit is unique and employs a number of stages, each of which has a current starved inverter which is immediately followed by a conventional inverter to allow duty cycle corrections to be either additive or subtractive. The current starved inverters are controlled by a single voltage, which causes the current starved inverter's delay to degrade/improve on only one transition to effect a change in the duty cycle. For improved precision, a differential embodiment employs the same VCDCG.

Precise and programmable duty cycle generator

The present invention provides a delay-locked loop (DLL). The DLL comprises a phase-frequency detector (PFD) for receiving a reference signal. The DLL further includes a charge pump which is coupled to the PFD. The DLL also includes a loop filter which is coupled to the charge pump and the PFD. Additionally in the DLL, delay line means is coupled to the charge pump and the loop filter. The delay line means provides a feedback signal to the PFD. The DLL further includes monitor means coupled to the PFD, the charge pump and the loop filter. The monitor means is for detecting when a voltage across the loop filter is at a predetermined level, wherein when the voltage is at the predetermined level the monitor means causes the PFD to enter a pump-down mode until the feedback signal is aligned with the reference signal. An advantage of the present invention is that DLL loop tracking failures based upon a stuck condition are reliably avoided. Specifically, the DLL in accordance with the present invention can reliably recover from the stuck condition in which the adjustable delay is at its lower limit and the PFD asserts the UP control signal. Additionally, the DLL is cost effective and is easily implemented utilizing existing processes.

A method and circuit are provided for measuring frequency response performance of an integrated circuit by providing a pulse having a rising edge and a falling edge where the pulse is provided to a plurality of serially connected components. The number of these components which have propagated the leading edge of the pulse before the occurrence of the falling edge provide a numeric indication of the circuit's frequency response and performance.

The present invention discloses a lock indicator circuit used to indicate a phase lock condition between logic signals. The lock indicator circuit uses a phase detector that generates a pulse width proportional to the phase difference between a reference signal and a feedback signal. Another circuit generates, on each positive edge of the reference and the feedback signals, pulses whose widths are primarily dependent on fixed delay elements. These fixed pulse determine a window in which the pulse from the phase detector will fall as the two signals approach phase lock. Phase lock is signaled by the logic AND of the window pulse and the phase detector pulse. Other circuitry generates a phase lock indication signal if the phase lock signal remains true for a number of consecutive transitions of the reference signal. Likewise a phase unlock indication signal is generated if after phase lock indication, phase unlock occurs and remains for a number of consecutive transitions of the reference signal.
