Current Strategies and Future Perspectives for Intraperitoneal Adhesion Prevention
Christoph Brochhausen,Volker Schmitt,Constanze Planck,Taufiek Konrad Rajab,David Hollemann,Christine Tapprich,Bernhard K. Krämer,Christian W. Wallwiener,Helmut Hierlemann,Rolf Zehbe,Heinrich Planck,C. James Kirkpatrick +11 more
TL;DR: Based on the physiology of the serosa and the pathophysiology of adhesion formation, the available barriers in current clinical practice as well as new innovations are discussed in the present review.

Histological examination and evaluation of donor bile ducts received during orthotopic liver transplantation—a morphological clue to ischemic-type biliary lesion?
Torsten Hansen,David Hollemann,Michael B. Pitton,Michael Heise,Maria Hoppe-Lotichius,Marcus Schuchmann,C. James Kirkpatrick,Gerd Otto +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors performed histological evaluation of donor common bile ducts received during orthotopic liver transplantation to find morphological clues to the pathomechanisms of ITBL.

Accuracy of automatic airway morphometry in computed tomography-correlation of radiological-pathological findings.
T. Achenbach,Oliver Weinheimer,Christoph Brochhausen,David Hollemann,Bastian Baumbach,Alexander Scholz,Christoph Düber +6 more
TL;DR: The results are comparable to previously described errors in phantom correlations but are the first proof of ex vivo feasibility of airway pathology on radiological morphology.

Tissue response to five commercially available peritoneal adhesion barriers-A systematic histological evaluation.
Volker Schmitt,Andreas Mamilos,Christine Schmitt,Constanze N. E. Neitzer‐Planck,Taufiek Konrad Rajab,David Hollemann,Willi L. Wagner,Bernhard K. Krämer,Helmut Hierlemann,C. James Kirkpatrick,Christoph Brochhausen +10 more
TL;DR: Histopathological investigations are crucial to improve the understanding of the cellular mechanisms during adhesion formation and elucidate the tissue response to material approaches used in adhesion prevention, which will lead to improved antiadhesive strategies and the development of functional barrier biomaterials.

Tissue expansion of lung bronchi due to tissue processing for histology - A comparative analysis of paraffin versus frozen sections in a pig model.
Volker Schmitt,Christine Schmitt,David Hollemann,Oliver Weinheimer,Andreas Mamilos,C. James Kirkpatrick,Christoph Brochhausen,Christoph Brochhausen +7 more
TL;DR: In routine pathology as well as in scientific studies these results are of relevance, as airway wall thickness represents a relevant marker for pathological interpretation, especially using CT image techniques.
