Entrepreneurship has been at the centre of societal advancement and economic development, and the intersectionality of gender within entrepreneurial discourses continues to be a fascinating topic for researchers. In order to explore the complex terrain of gendered entrepreneurial discourses, this study offers a thorough bibliometric analysis. Through synthesis and analysis of n = 2098 selected academic published research papers compiled from the Scopus and WOS databases, this study mapped the intellectual landscape, identified significant topics, and uncovered trends in the field’s progression. This study aims to review the scholarly discourses on gender and entrepreneurship and pave the path for future research in this domain. Advanced bibliometric techniques, such as co-citation analysis, co-occurrence of keywords, and co-word analysis, are included in the methodology. The research’s first perspective helps the researchers understand gender and entrepreneurship and their interlinkages, promoting a more cohesive and supportive academic community. The second perspective this research highlighted is the co-word analysis done in VOS viewer from where the themes were derived. The thematic analysis unveiled four distinct clusters within the gendered entrepreneurship literature, highlighting prevalent themes such as access to finance, the prevalence of gendered inequalities in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, societal perceptions, and policy interventions. Furthermore, the study traces the chronological evolution of these themes, providing insights into how scholarly attention has shifted over time and building the foundations for future research. 

Exploring gender discourses in entrepreneurship: a bibliometric analysis

Abstract Social media are gaining significance in organizations and their business strategies. Therefore, the self-presentation of solo entrepreneurs on social media requires a strategic analysis and concept due to their specific business structure. Solo entrepreneurs work on their own without having any employees in their company. In other words, they stay as the personification of a one-(wo)man-firm. The business structure of solo entrepreneurs is particular since they operate in the most decentralized form of a firm, which is a one-person firm. In some way, solo entrepreneurs can be regarded as independent (self-employed) laborers. When presenting themselves online, they must decide which characteristics of the private self should be emphasized and which should be incorporated into the entrepreneurial identity to be useful to the business. Our qualitative study conducted twelve semi-structured interviews with solo entrepreneurs to understand how they present themselves on social media and how the solo entrepreneur offered online differs from the private self. We have found that there are features of the personal self that are kept strictly out of the entrepreneurial sphere, but there are areas that make a mix of personal and entrepreneurial selves. Our results help to understand the group of solo entrepreneurs and their unique characteristics in an increasingly important field of digital media. 

Competing strategies between public and private self: separation and diffusion of the entrepreneurial identity of solo entrepreneurs on social media

The purpose of this paper is to explore the entrepreneurial and policy consequences of the structural changes associated with postindustrialization.,The approach uses Schumpeterian and institutional theories to predict the consequences of postindustrialization on four types of innovative markets: global mass markets; global niche markets; local mass markets and local niche markets.,The paper makes two key predictions. First, global mass markets will account for most cost-cutting process innovations. Second, niche markets, whether global or local, will provide the bulk of product innovations. Opportunities for product innovations in niche markets multiply both as the result of a more complex economy and as the result of heterogeneous preferences of consumers with divergent learning trajectories.,The key implication of the theoretical pattern prediction of this paper is that there are increasing opportunities for entrepreneurs to introduce novelties that cater to niche demands, and this includes new lifestyle communities. The increasing diversity of values and preferences implies that one-size-fit-all policies are becoming increasingly inimical to the entrepreneurial discovery of higher-valued resource uses.,This paper takes a standard prediction of entrepreneurial theories – that innovations become more common with an increase in economy-wide product complexity – and extends this to increasing complexity on the consumption side. With increases in opportunities for learning, consumers diverge and develop disparate lifestyles. The resultant super-diversity, which multiplies consumption niches to a much greater extent than what ethnicity-based diversity indices would imply, makes it more difficult to achieve consensus about the desirability of public policies.
