First Asymmetric Reduction of Isatin by Marine-Derived Fungi
Willian G. Birolli,Irlon M. Ferrreira,Irlon M. Ferrreira,David E. Q. Jimenez,Bianca N. M. Silva,Bárbara V. Silva,Angelo C. Pinto,André Luiz Meleiro Porto +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, whole cells of marine-derived fungi were used to reduce isatin (1H-indole-2,3- dione) to dioxindole (3-hydroxyindolin-2-one) for 7 days at 32 °C.
Enantioselective ene-reduction of E-2-cyano-3-(furan-2-yl) acrylamide by marine and terrestrial fungi and absolute configuration of (R)-2-cyano-3-(furan-2-yl) propanamide determined by calculations of electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectra.
David E. Q. Jimenez,David E. Q. Jimenez,Juliana Cristina Barreiro,Fernando M. dos Santos,Suzan Pantaroto de Vasconcellos,André Luiz Meleiro Porto,João M. Batista +6 more
TL;DR: A compound with an uncommon CN-bearing stereogenic center at the α-C position was obtained by enantioselective reactions mediated in the presence of the microorganisms yielding the (R)-2-cyano-3-(furan-2-yl) propanamide 3a.

Synthesis of Knoevenagel Adducts Under Microwave Irradiation and Biocatalytic Ene-Reduction by the Marine-Derived Fungus Cladosporium sp. CBMAI 1237 for the Production of 2-Cyano-3-Phenylpropanamide Derivatives
Willian G. Birolli,Willian G. Birolli,Lucas Lima Zanin,David E. Q. Jimenez,André Luiz Meleiro Porto +4 more
TL;DR: The synthesis of nine Knoevenagel adducts between cyanoacetamide and aromatic aldehydes ((E)-2-cyano-3-(phenyl)acrylamide derivatives), employing triethylamine as catalyst under microwave irradiation in 30 min with excellent yields (93–99% yield) showed that the use of coupled and greener catalysis methods can be an interesting tool for the obtention of organic molecules.

Synthesis and X-ray crystal structures of polyfunctionalized 4H-chromene derivatives via tricomponent reaction with Knoevenagel adducts as intermediates in aqueous medium
Lucas Lima Zanin,David E. Q. Jimenez,Matheus Pereira de Jesus,Luan F. Diniz,Javier Ellena,André Luiz Meleiro Porto +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, two routes were investigated, the first being a bicomponent reaction using Knoevenagel adducts as reagents and the second using one-pot tricomponents reactions, both under microwave irradiation, using H2O as solvent and triethylamine as catalyst.

Use of Oxone® as a Potential Catalyst in Biodiesel Production from Palm Fatty Acid Distillate (PFAD)
Samuel Q. Lopes,Fabrício H. Holanda,David E. Q. Jimenez,Luís Adriano Santos do Nascimento,Alex de Nazaré de Oliveira,Alex de Nazaré de Oliveira,Irlon M. Ferreira +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a catalytic application of Oxone® salt was used for the esterification reaction of palm fatty acid distillate PFAD for biodiesel production for the first time.
