TL;DR: It is demonstrated that an amino acid substitution in the IFN λ 4 protein changing a proline at position 70 to a serine (P70S) substantially alters its antiviral activity, leading to an improved prognosis for HCV infected patients.

TL;DR: The approval of new agents that inhibit viral replication has dramatically increased the viral clearance rate, with less adverse events, and it is certain that the interferon-free regimens will dominate the therapeutic horizon of chronic hepatitis C in the coming years.
