TL;DR: The results provide the rationale to further investigate the potential use of blood DNA methylation profiles for the identification of early changes related to the MPM carcinogenic process and demonstrate the need for noninvasive early diagnostic tests to monitor asbestos‐exposed people.

Environmental asbestos exposure and clustering of malignant mesothelioma in community: a spatial analysis in a population-based case-control study.
C. Airoldi,Corrado Magnani,Corrado Magnani,F. Lazzarato,Dario Mirabelli,Dario Mirabelli,Sara Tunesi,Daniela Ferrante +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the spatial variation of mesothelioma risk in an area with high levels of asbestos pollution and explored the pattern of clustering, and they found an increasing pattern of meso-pathogen exposure in the area around a big asbestos cement factory and they detected secondary clusters of cases due to local exposure points, possibly associated to the use of asbestos materials.
