The protective and toxic effects of rhubarb tannins and anthraquinones in treating hexavalent chromium-injured rats: the Yin/Yang actions of rhubarb.
Ling-na Zeng,Zhi-jie Ma,Yan-ling Zhao,Lin-dong Zhang,Ruisheng Li,Jiabo Wang,Ping Zhang,Dan Yan,Qi Li,Bing-qian Jiang,Shi-biao Pu,Yang Lu,Xiaohe Xiao +12 more
TL;DR: The results suggested that rhubarb tannins treat CrNT as a free radical scavenger, reductant, and metal precipitant, and the multiple protective routes of the plant tannin reveal a superior option for development into a promising natural remedy against CrNT.

Investigation of the "dose-time-response" relationships of rhubarb on carbon tetrachloride-induced liver injury in rats.
Xiao-yan Xing,Yanling Zhao,Weijun Kong,Jia-Bo Wang,Lei Jia,Ping Zhang,Dan Yan,Yan-wei Zhong,Ruisheng Li,Xiaohe Xiao +9 more
TL;DR: High dose (40 g kg(-1)) of rhubarb exhibited a significant protective effect on injured liver by reversing the biochemical parameters and histopathological changes, but this hepatoprotective effect will be weakened, even be transferred to toxicity with increasing the administration dose and time ofrhubarb.

Application of microcalorimetry and principal component analysis
TL;DR: In this article, the antibacterial effects of Benzoinum and Styrax on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus were evaluated using a thermal activity monitor (TAM) air isothermal microcalorimeter, ampoule mode.
