Abstract Cultural intelligence (CQ) and emotional intelligence (EQ) represent key competencies of multicultural leadership in the new normal global business environment. This paper aims to present a comparative quantitative study concerning emotional and cultural intelligences in USA and Romania, backed by a brief geo-linked bibliometric literature review. The bibliometric analysis is performed with VOSviewer for the works focusing on these two variables published in USA and, respectively, in Romania. Inspired by the findings of this comparative analysis, it is performed a quantitative research based on 604 questionnaires distributed to managers in USA and in Romania, and on statistical processing using SPSS software. The statistical results show that both CQ and EQ constitute significant vectors in developing multicultural leadership and organizational performance in a multicultural business environment for both USA and Romania. The comparative study reveals a higher level of CQ and EQ in the Romanian business environment than in USA. The difference could be explained by the focus on rationality and profit maximization in the American business education. The contribution of the paper comes from these findings and they can help researchers and practitioners to stimulate their efforts in improving CQ and EQ competences.

Emotional and cultural intelligences: a comparative analysis between the United States of America and Romania

According to Harvard Business Review, companies with higher diversity experienced 19% higher revenues, but in the meantime, 57% of employees feel their businesses must assiduously concentrate on diversity and inclusion plans. This article aims to present a bibliometric study of diversity and inclusion (DI) in the COVID years 2019-2022. Our analysis was based on the Scopus database, while the bibliometric research was performed via VOSviewer: version 1.6.17, one of the most utilized academic software tools for constructing and visualizing bibliometric networks. In conclusion, our research questions are answered, underlining that, during the last 4 COVID years 2019-2022 the DI phenomenon was a main vector of multinational leadership (ML) and that physical/mental abilities, race and ethnicity, and educational background are the new main drivers of DI. The value of these findings resides in the agile repositioning of the DI role within multinational leadership and can serve as a reference and guidance both for business professionals and researchers.

Diversity and inclusion within multicultural leadership in the covid years: a bibliometric study 2019-2022

Business internationalization and globalization naturally led to the need to manage across cultures and develop new competencies for leaders. One of these competencies is cultural intelligence (CQ) that is actually a meta-competence because it incorporates rational, emotional, spiritual, and social intelligence. Cultural intelligence expresses the capacity of a leader to understand different cultures and the behavioral types generated by them, and to make decisions able to satisfy multicultural requirements, avoiding intercultural conflicts due especially to different cultural and religious values and principles. Different cultures are characterized by different knowledge dynamics which influence the process of decision making and multicultural leadership. The purpose of this paper is to explore the impact of knowledge dynamics on multicultural leadership, in multicultural business environments, and what is the role of cultural intelligence in this process. Based on the critical literature review we identified the main constructs and connections we have to explore through an investigation based on questionnaires and a statistical analysis using PLS-SEM method. The findings confirmed our initial hypotheses. 

The Impact of Knowledge Dynamics on Multicultural Leadership and the Mediating Role of Cultural Intelligence

Knowledge management is an intrinsic part of the managerial process and not a substitute for it. It is that part that is focused on managing intangible resources like knowledge, ideas, brands, and many other similar entities. Although this assertion is clear and looks like an extension of classical management, many knowledge management projects failed and generated a question mark about the future of knowledge management. Management developed based on the basic ideas coming from engineering and on the paradigm of measuring. The assertion “What gets measured gets managed” became almost a norm in management thinking. But knowledge is intangible and contextual. Measuring knowledge is almost impossible by using the measuring systems designed for tangible objects, and that is a huge barrier to understanding and practicing knowledge management. There is a need to change the management paradigm to accommodate intangible resources, and that means approaching the complexity of knowledge and knowledge management. The purpose of this chapter is to reveal some of the most important barriers between classical management and knowledge management and how we can find ways to overcome them, that is, to identify some new models for explaining the complexity of knowledge, knowledge dynamics, and knowledge management concepts. That means revealing new metaphors for understanding the multidimensional concept of knowledge and how to interpret its dynamics at the individual, team, and organizational levels. The chapter focuses on the theory of knowledge fields and knowledge dynamics from a thermodynamics perspective. 

Approaching the Complexity of Knowledge Management

This paper explores the notion of strategic intelligence, namely with respect to leadership and business-oriented areas. Strategic intelligence is a researched concept that primarily concerns the collection and analysis of intelligence for policy and military planning, mainly at national and international levels, whereas this study of management and organizational decision-making application is an extension of that. This article’s subject is the necessity for strategic intelligence, a crucial competence for leaders, managers, and companies striving to remain competitive, to be utilized and best leveraged in today’s volatile and dynamic business contexts. This study follows a research design that includes a thorough literature review and bibliometric research, executed via VoSViewer, illustrating the concept of strategic intelligence from a leadership point of view as a driver of competitive advantage, enhanced by knowledge dynamics. Furthermore, this article points out that the limitations are acknowledged because the literature on the matter is limited, as strategic intelligence is relatively new to the business sector; moreover, more research is required to fully understand and use the potential of strategic intelligence in business growth. Overcoming these limitations and continuing to study the strategic intelligence concept could, on the one hand, use multiple platforms, such as scholarly articles or encyclopedias, and, on the other hand, support businesses in gaining a competitive edge and making informed decisions that can fuel their success in an ever-evolving market. 

Strategic Intelligence: A Semantic Leadership Perspective

The purpose of this paper is to present a bibliometric analysis of the literature, focusing on knowledge dynamics in managerial decision making. The motivation of our research is based on the new theory of knowledge fields and knowledge dynamics and its influence on decision making in business and management. The methodology used is based on a bibliometric analysis performed with the specialized software VOSviewer. The analysis graphically presents a series of semantic clusters which show the co-citation distances between different concepts related to the search expressions used like “knowledge dynamics”, “managerial decision”, and “decision making”. As a database, we used the papers published in journals indexed in Web of Science. The outcomes of our analysis are some graphical representations of semantic clusters for the expressions “knowledge dynamics” and “managerial decision making”, and a series of tables with the content analysis of the clusters and some other data concerning publications and authors. The findings demonstrate that there is a consistent link between knowledge dynamics and the managerial decision making process. The contribution of the paper comes from the fact that it is a first bibliometric analysis of the correlations between knowledge dynamics and managerial decision making as reflected in papers indexed in Web of Science. Also, the analysis includes for the first time the topic of entropic knowledge dynamics as reflected in papers indexed in Web of Science.
