Reduction Dynamics of Doped Ceria, Nickel Oxide, and Cermet Composites Probed Using In Situ Raman Spectroscopy
Robert C. Maher,Paul R. Shearing,E. Brightman,Dan J. L. Brett,Nigel P. Brandon,Lesley F. Cohen +5 more
TL;DR: In situ Raman spectroscopic monitoring of the redox cycle is used to investigate the interplay between the dynamic and competing processes of hydrogen spillover and water dissociation on the doped ceria surface and suggest direct routes to further improve cell performance.
Four-Dimensional Studies of Morphology Evolution in Lithium–Sulfur Batteries
Chun Tan,Thomas M. M. Heenan,R. Ziesche,Sohrab R. Daemi,Jennifer Hack,Maximilian Maier,Shashidhara Marathe,Christoph Rau,Dan J. L. Brett,Paul R. Shearing +9 more
- 20 Aug 2018
TL;DR: In this article, the morphology of a sulfur cathode was visualized in 3D as a function of state of charge at high temporal and spatial resolution, and the electrical conductivity of the cathode is found not to be rate-limiting, suggesting the need to optimize the loading of conductive carbon additives.
Image based modelling of microstructural heterogeneity in LiFePO4 electrodes for Li-ion batteries
Samuel J. Cooper,David S. Eastwood,David S. Eastwood,Jeff Gelb,Gaetan Damblanc,Dan J. L. Brett,Robert S. Bradley,Philip J. Withers,Philip J. Withers,Peter D. Lee,Peter D. Lee,Andrew J. Marquis,Nigel P. Brandon,Paul R. Shearing +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a novel approach to quantifying tortuosity based on a heat transfer analogy applied to X-ray microscopy data of a commercially available LiFePO4 electrode is described.
