A deception jamming method for synthetic aperture radar (SAR) based on multiple receivers is proposed. This method deals with the parameters of hostile SAR as a whole for deception jamming. By measuring the range differences between different receivers, higher accuracy can be achieved than detecting each of the parameters directly. The squint angle, which is hard to be obtained for the electronic reconnaissance, is also included in the parameters the multireceiver system gets, so this method works on the squint SAR. The accuracy of the algorithm and the system noise are analyzed. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the algorithm.

Deception Jamming for Squint SAR Based on Multiple Receivers

This paper proposes a new approach to improve the error performance of the synergy netting deception jamming against synthetic aperture radar (SAR). The existing methods cannot tackle the issue of error amplification induced by the linear equations constructed for jamming coefficients calculation. To handle this problem, we develop an optimal layout for radar receivers to minimize the effect of the error by minimizing the condition number, which measures the sensitivity of the synergy deception jamming system to the perturbation. It is revealed that the devised approach relies little on the SAR kinematic parameters. To further improve the error performance of the jamming system, collaborative receivers, which provide more observations of time difference of arrivals, are introduced to perform a linear least-squares estimation. The error reduction level due to the cooperative receivers is analyzed. Simulation results are provided to illustrate the superiority of the proposed method.

Performance Improvement of Deception Jamming Against SAR Based on Minimum Condition Number

We propose a new deceptive jamming method using networked receivers to perform deceptive jamming against multimode synthetic aperture radar. Using multiple receivers to measure the time difference of beam arrival, we solve the instantaneous modulation parameters precisely via linear equations. We then solve the time delays and frequency offsets of the deceptive signal without approximation to avoid accumulating electronic reconnaissance errors with traditional deceptive methods. Additionally, we design the distribution of receivers to minimize the condition number, reducing our method's sensitivity to measurement error. Simulation results prove the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Deception Against Near-Field Synthetic Aperture Radar Using Networked Jammers

This paper focuses on the interferometry phase of an active coherent jamming in InSAR (Interferometry Synthetic Aperture Radar) images. Based on the signal models of coherent jammer, the jamming's imaging results are derived by employing the Omega-K algorithm. By comparing the imaging results of InSAR's two channels, the jamming's interferometry phases for both working modes, the single-pass and repeat-pass modes, are proved to be constants. And the values of the interferometry phases are determined by the jammer's geometry position relative to InSAR baseline, but independent of the jamming's waveform modulation and its background terrain.

The Interferometry Phase of InSAR Coherent Jamming with Arbitrary Waveform Modulation

A deceptive jamming method against terrain observation by progressive scans synthetic aperture radar (TOPSAR) that considers the effect of the changing relative position between a jammer and a TOPSAR platform is presented. The method can generate flexible false targets with varying Doppler centroids. The jamming problem is decomposed into simpler subproblems of the same type, according to the relative position between the jammer and the satellite. The partial deceptive jamming modulation function can be pregenerated before the radar parameter reconnaissance. The partitioned scheme produces multiple deceptive jamming batches in parallel on the TOPSAR image to protect large regions of interest.
