The beta-globin dominant control region: hypersensitive site 2.
TL;DR: It is shown that a 225 bp fragment is sufficient to direct high levels of expression of the human beta‐globin gene which is copy number dependent and integration site independent and the significance of these results for the regulation of globin gene expression is discussed.
The dominant control region of the human beta-globin domain.
Frank Grosveld,David R. Greaves,Sjaak Philipsen,D. Talbot,Sara Pruzina,E. deBoer,Olivia Hanscombe,P. Belhumeur,J. Hurst,Peter Fraser,David Whyatt,M. Antoniou,Vincent Mignotte,Niall Dillon,Mike Lindenbaum,John Strouboulis +15 more
TL;DR: The DNA sequence analysis has been completed for the entire region and a comparison with the recently completed sequence data for the rabbit p-globin gene domain shows that the entire loci arc homologous, with the exception of repetitive sequence insertions and some duplications and deletions.

- 01 Jan 1990
TL;DR: The strongest evidence for the existence of an important control in the flanking region of the globin gene domain was provided by the analysis of human γβ-thalassaemias, and the first indication that positive acting sites may be involved in activation of the β-globin domain came with the observation of erythroid specific DNasel hypersensitive sites.

Lower polyunsaturated fatty acid levels and FADS2 expression in adult compared to neonatal keratinocytes are associated with FADS2 promotor hypermethylation
Chathyan Pararasa,David J. Messenger,Kim E. Barrett,Della Hyliands,D. Talbot,Mark Ian Fowler,T. Kawatra,David A. Gunn,F. L. Lim,Linda Jane Wainwright,Gail Jenkins,H. Griffiths +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors examined the relationship between FA composition, lipid biosynthetic gene expression, gene promoter methylation and age in adult and neonatal keratinocytes and found that the expression of elongase (ELOVL6 and 7) and desaturase (FADS1 and 2) genes was lower in adult versus neonatal keratinocytes.
