Neutron diffraction determination of the number and displacement of the atoms in the diffuse ω-phase of Zr0·8Nb0·2
D.T. Keating,S.J. Laplaca +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the number of displaced atoms and their mean displacement from intensity measurements of the b.c.c lattice were determined for Zr 0·8 Nb 0·2 alloy.

Scattering of x-rays by structures containing a random distribution of defects
TL;DR: In this article, exact expressions for the Bragg and diffuse scattering of a structure containing a random distribution of point defects are given for both types of scattering, assuming that the displacements of a lattice site produced by a single defect are known parameters.

Diffuse X-ray scattering from doublet defects in martensite and ferrite
A.N. Goland,D.T. Keating +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors calculated the X-ray diffuse scattering in the vicinity of the reciprocal lattice points in iron-carbon martensite and in ferrite and showed that the origin scattering exhibits the orientation and symmetry of a defect in a more direct manner than the diffuse scattering about any other point in reciprocal space.

A note on the determination of the density of phonon eigenstates from the inelastic incoherent neutron scattering
TL;DR: In this paper, a method for determining the density of phonon eigenstates of a harmonic crystal from the inelastic incoherent neutron scattering is described, and the method is illustrated using the phonon Eigenstates recently determined for vanadium at 300°K from the measurement of the thermal diffuse X-ray scattering.
