The aim of this review is to summarize the incidence, prevalence, trend in mortality, and general prognosis of coronary heart disease (CHD) and a related condition, acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Although CHD mortality has gradually declined over the last decades in western countries, this condition still causes about one-third of all deaths in people older than 35 years. This evidence, along with the fact that mortality from CHD is expected to continue increasing in developing countries, illustrates the need for implementing effective primary prevention approaches worldwide and identifying risk groups and areas for possible improvement.

Study population 49 946 residents (age 40–75 years) of Golestan Province, Iran. Main outcome measures Researchers collected data related to multimorbidity, defined as co-existence of two or more chronic diseases in an individual, at the beginning of a representative cohort study which recruited its participants from 2004 to 2008. The researchers utilised simple and multiple Poisson regression models with robust variances to examine the simultaneous effects of multiple factors. Results Women had a 25.0% prevalence of multimorbidity, whereas men had a 13.4% prevalence (p Conclusion Prevention and control of multimorbidity requires health promotion programmes to increase public awareness about the modifiable risk factors, particularly among women.

Jahrhundert ermoglicht scheinbar standig verbesserte Lebensbedingungen, jedoch: der Schein trugt: obwohl und aber gerade auch weil sich unsere Lebenserwartung positiv andert, werden chronische Erkrankungen immer haufiger, aber auch die Zahl der nicht ubertragbaren Erkrankungen nimmt trotz einer besseren (und teureren) medizinischen Versorgung zu (z. B. Diabetes mellitus). Deswegen ist es unabdingbar, die Interaktionen zu verstehen, um einen optimalen Gesundheitsstatus trotz sozialer Un terschiede, finanzieller Krisen, politischer Ideologien und Kriege zu erreichen. Die integrierte Sichtweise von Salutogenese, Pathogenese sowie umweltwissenschaftlichen und so zialen Faktoren kann die Gesundheit der Bevolkerung fordern und Krankheiten minimieren. Es ist die Herausforderung der heutigen Gesellschaft einen Gener ationsplan zu erstellen, um die menschliche Gesund heit zu bewahren und den Gesundheitsstatus positiv weiter zu entwickeln.
