Adopted values for the reduced electric quadrupole transition probability, B(E2)↑, from the ground state to the first-excited 2+ state of even–even nuclides are given in Table I. Values of τ, the mean life of the 2+ state; E, the energy; and β, the quadrupole deformation parameter, are also listed there. The ratio of β to the value expected from the single-particle model is presented. The intrinsic quadrupole moment, Q0, is deduced from the B(E2)↑ value. The product E×B(E2)↑ is expressed as a percentage of the energy-weighted total and isoscalar E2 sum-rule strengths.

Table II presents the data on which Table I is based, namely the experimental results for B(E2)↑ values with quoted uncertainties. Information is also given on the quantity measured and the method used. The literature has been covered to November 2000.

The adopted B(E2)↑ values are compared in Table III with the values given by systematics and by various theoretical models. Predictions of unmeasured B(E2)↑ values are also given in Table III.

Structure of 13Be probed via quasi-free scattering

In this work, one-neutron transfer (pickup and stripping), complete and incomplete fusion cross sections for the $^{9}\mathrm{Be}+^{197}\mathrm{Au}$ system were measured over a wide range of energies around the Coulomb barrier by the offline $\ensuremath{\gamma}$-ray detection method. Coupled-channel calculations were used to determine the elastic, inelastic, and transfer cross sections. Coupled reaction channel calculations were performed to derive the one-neutron stripping and pickup cross sections. Three-body continuum discretized coupled-channel calculations were used to determine the effect of the breakup channel on the other reaction mechanisms. The reduced complete and total fusion were found to be hindered above and enhanced below the Coulomb barrier compared with the universal fusion function due to the breakup plus transfer effects.

One-neutron transfer, complete fusion, and incomplete fusion from the Be 9 + Au 197 reaction

We present new experimental angular distributions for the elastic scattering of $^{6}\mathrm{Li}+^{120}\mathrm{Sn}$ at three bombarding energies. We include these data in a wide systematic involving the elastic scattering of $^{4,6}\mathrm{He},\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}^{7}\mathrm{Li}$, $^{9}\mathrm{Be},\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}^{10}\mathrm{B}$, and $^{16,18}\mathrm{O}$ projectiles on the same target at energies around the respective Coulomb barriers. Considering this data set, we report on optical model analyses based on the double-folding S\~ao Paulo potential. Within this approach, we study the sensitivity of the data fit to different models for the nuclear matter densities and to variations in the optical potential strengths.

 B on several targets have been performed in recent years at the Radioactive Ion Beams facility in Brasil (RIBRAS). We present results of elastic scattering and reaction measurements performed with this facility. A preliminary Coulomb excitation experiment using gamma-particle coincidence technique is described.

Experiments with A = 6–8 exotic beams in RIBRAS

Cross sections for elastic and inelastic scattering of the weakly bound $^{9}\mathrm{Be}$ nucleus on a $^{120}\mathrm{Sn}$ target have been measured at seven bombarding energies around and above the Coulomb barrier. The elastic angular distributions are analyzed with a four-body continuum-discretized coupled-channels (CDCC) calculation, which considers $^{9}\mathrm{Be}$ as a three-body projectile ($\ensuremath{\alpha}+\ensuremath{\alpha}+n$). An optical model analysis using the S\~ao Paulo potential is also shown for comparison. The CDCC analysis shows that the coupling to the continuum part of the spectrum is important for the agreement with experimental data even at energies around the Coulomb barrier, suggesting that breakup is an important process at low energies. At the highest incident energies, two inelastic peaks are observed at 1.19(5) and 2.41(5) MeV. Coupled-channels (CC) calculations using a rotational model confirm that the first inelastic peak corresponds to the excitation of the ${2}_{1}^{+}$ state in $^{120}\mathrm{Sn}$, while the second one likely corresponds to the excitation of the ${3}_{1}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ state.
