Developing and validating advanced divertor solutions on DIII-D for next-step fusion devices
Houyang Guo,D. N. Hill,A.W. Leonard,S.L. Allen,P.C. Stangeby,Daniel Thomas,Ezekial A Unterberg,Tyler Abrams,J.A. Boedo,A.R. Briesemeister,Dean A. Buchenauer,Igor Bykov,John Canik,C.P. Chrobak,Brent Covele,Rui Ding,R.P. Doerner,David Donovan,Huarong Du,D. Elder,David Eldon,Ane Lasa,M. Groth,Jerome Guterl,Aaro Järvinen,E.T. Hinson,Egemen Kolemen,C.J. Lasnier,Jeremy Lore,M. A. Makowski,Adam McLean,Brett H. Meyer,Auna Moser,Richard E. Nygren,Larry W Owen,T.W. Petrie,G.D. Porter,T.D. Rognlien,D.L. Rudakov,Chaofeng Sang,Cameron Samuell,H. Si,Oliver Schmitz,Aaron Sontag,Vlad Soukhanovskii,William R. Wampler,Huiqian Wang,J.G. Watkins +47 more
TL;DR: These efforts will lead to design, installation, and evaluation of an advanced divertor for DIII-D to enable highly dissipative divertor operation at core density, neutral fueling and impurity influx most compatible with high performance plasma scenarios and reactor relevant plasma facing components (PFCs).

Interpretative modelling of JET's thermal helium diagnostic
Y. Andrew,S.J. Davies,D. Elder,L. D. Horton,G. F. Matthews,A. G. Meigs,P. D. Morgan,M. G. O'Mullane,M.F. Stamp,R. Prentice,P.C. Stangeby +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, an interpretative model has been developed which uses the impurity/neutral codes, DIVIMP/NIMBUS, the atomic database ADAS and the diagnostic lines of sight.

Experimental determination of the contribution of chemical sputtering of carbon on carbon core concentrations
M.F. Stamp,D. Elder,Haizhong Guo,M. von Hellermann,L. D. Horton,R. König,J. Lingertat,G.M. McCracken,A. G. Meigs,P.C. Stangeby,A Tabasso +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of a methane puff at three different plasma locations has been compared with a similar deuterium puff in a 2.5 MA,2.5 T Elmy H-Mode.

The scaling of the heat flux width in DIII-D
TL;DR: In this article, a cross machine analysis of heat flux profile measurements has produced a particularly simple scaling law for the scrape-off-layer (SOL) width, going as B p, mp e with e ǫ − 1.0 where B p, mp is the poloidal magnetic field at the outer midplane separatrix.

Transport of tungsten to collector probes in DIII-D
Shawn Zamperini,David Donovan,Ezekial A Unterberg,P.C. Stangeby,J.H. Nichols,J. D. Duran,D. Elder,A. L. Neff,D.L. Rudakov,Mike P. Zach +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, collector probes were inserted in the main scrape off layer (SOL) of DIII-D during the tungsten Metal Rings Campaign, and the W deposits on the probes were analyzed ex situ using Rutherford backscattering spectrometry analysis to obtain radial profiles of W deposition.
