The DaNeX study of embryonic mesencephalic, dopaminergic tissue grafted to a minipig model of Parkinson's disease: preliminary findings of effect of MPTP poisoning on striatal dopaminergic markers.
Erik H. Danielsen,Paul Cumming,Flemming L. Andersen,D. Bender,Thomas Brevig,Lise Falborg,Antony D. Gee,Nic Gillings,Søren B. Hansen,Flemming Hermansen,J Johansen,Teit E. Johansen,A. Dahl-Jørgensen,Jørgensen Ha,Morten Meyer,Ole Lajord Munk,Erik B. Pedersen,P. H. Poulsen,Anders Rodell,Masaharu Sakoh,Claus Z Simonsen,D. F. Smith,Jan Corfixen Sørensen,Ostergård L,Jens Zimmer,Albert Gjedde,Arne Møller +26 more
TL;DR: Preliminary results are suggestive that the activity of DOPA decarboxylase may be upregulated in the partially denervated pig striatum, suggestive of a stable parkinsonian syndrome established by MPTP intoxication of adult male Göttingen minipigs.

Normalization of markers for dopamine innervation in striatum of MPTP-lesioned miniature pigs with intrastriatal grafts
Paul Cumming,Erik H. Danielsen,Manouchehr Seyedi Vafaee,Lise Falborg,E. Steffensen,Jan Corfixen Sørensen,Nic Gillings,D. Bender,Katalin Marthi,Flemming L. Andersen,Ole Lajord Munk,Donald F. Smith,Arne Møller,Albert Gjedde +13 more
TL;DR: Dopamine depletion or grafting were without effect on the cerebral perfusion rate, did not alter the rate of oxygen metabolism (CMRO2) in brain, and did not altered the binding potential of tracers for dopamine D1 or D2 receptors in pig striatum, but the grafting was associated with a local increase in the binding of [11C]PK 11195, a tracer for reactive gliosis, suggesting that an immunological reaction occurs at the site of graft.

Weir design providing optimal purge gas flow, melt control, and temperature stabilization for improved single crystal growth in a continuous Czochralski process

- 11 Mar 2008
TL;DR: In this paper, a weir is extended vertically to define an optimal annular gap between the top of the weir and the underside of a super-adjacent heat shield.

Synthesis and evaluation of racemic [11C]NS2456 and its enantiomers as selective serotonin reuptake radiotracers for PET
Donald F. Smith,D. Bender,K. Marthi,Paul Cumming,Søren B. Hansen,Dan Peters,E. Østergaard Nielsen,J. Scheel-Krüger,Albert Gjedde +8 more
TL;DR: Neither racemic [(11)C]NS2456 nor its enantiomers are ideal for PET neuroimaging of neuronal serotonin uptake sites, as their binding potentials were relatively low and no stereoselectivity was found.
