Decreased myo-inositol to chiro-inositol (M/C) ratios and increased M/C epimerase activity in PCOS theca cells demonstrate increased insulin sensitivity compared to controls
TL;DR: The results of these studies are the first to demonstrate that in insulin sensitive PCOS theca cells the inositol imbalance goes in the opposite direction to that observed in insulin resistant cells, and there is a decreased M/C ratio and an increased myo-inositol to chiro-Inositol epimerase activity.

Inositols prevent and reverse endothelial dysfunction in diabetic rat and rabbit vasculature metabolically and by scavenging superoxide.

TL;DR: Inositols prevented and reversed ED in rat and rabbit vessels, reduced elevated ROS in endothelial cells, potentiated nitrergic or vasculo-myogenic relaxations, and preserved NO signaling.

Gq/11 is involved in insulin-stimulated inositol phosphoglycan putative mediator generation in rat liver membranes: co-localization of Gq/11 with the insulin receptor in membrane vesicles
TL;DR: The present and considerable published data provide strong evidence for insulin signaling both via a tyrosine kinase cascade mechanism and via heterotrimeric G-protein interactions.

Chronic treatment with D-chiro-inositol prevents autonomic and somatic neuropathy in STZ-induced diabetic mice.
V. X. Farias,F. H. P. Macêdo,M. B. Oquendo,Adriana da Rocha Tomé,Sônia Nair Báo,D. O. S. Cintra,Cláudia F. Santos,A.A.C. Albuquerque,D. B. Heimark,Joseph Larner,Manassés C. Fonteles,José Henrique Leal-Cardoso,Nilberto R.F. Nascimento,Nilberto R.F. Nascimento +13 more
TL;DR: D‐chiro‐inositol (DCI) has been shown to prevent and reverse endothelial dysfunction in diabetic rats and rabbits and the preventive effect of DCI on experimental diabetic neuropathy is evaluated.

TL;DR: It is suggested that INS-2 binds to distinctive sites on the two different phosphatases to activate insulin signaling, and the carbon analog could selectively favor glucose disposal via oxidative pathways.
