Software reliability testing is an effective way to ensure the quality of software systems, and the usage profile or operational profile is the basis for software reliability testing and even software reliability engineering. This paper presents an overall framework and a method of constructing usage profile for SOA software systems, so as to guide the reliability testing and assessment of SOA-based software systems. We use this method to extract the process of operations from the BPEL to form the main structure of usage profile that we call the usage structure for further use. Then, a method of probability distribution for usage structure is presented to form the whole usage profile. This method can be used to model not only the SOA but other distributed systems.

BPEL- based Usage Profile Construction

The invention provides a software system operation profile construction method based on SOA. The software system operation profile construction method takes a traditional concept of an operation profile is taken as a basis and combines the business process and user concurrency features of an SOA system to construct a business profile and user concurrency profile of the SOA system to solve the problem that a traditional operation profile cannot effectively describe the actual usage scenario of the SOA system. Probabilistic information of the business profile and user concurrency profile is bothderived from use logs of similar systems, thereby ensuring the accuracy of use probability in the two profiles, in the process of generating test data, user concurrency number of the user concurrencyprofile and the business process of the business profile are extracted respectively according to the probability distribution to achieve that the two profiles are merged into an integral operation profile. The provided software system operation profile construction method based on the SOA has a certain practical engineering value, and can be applied to the field of software reliability test and evaluation engineering.

With the wide application of software systems based on Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), the reliability of such software has received more and more attention. Software reliability testing and evaluation is an important means to improve reliability of SOA systems, the first step of which is the construction of an operational profile. However, using traditional operational profile is difficult to describe the characteristics of user concurrency and the real usage scenarios of SOA systems. Moreover, it is also difficult to ensure the accuracy of operational probabilities because of the subjectivity of expert experience in determining the probability of an operation. In this paper, a construction method of user concurrent profile based on usage logs is proposed. In the user concurrent profile, the characteristics of user concurrency in SOA software systems is embodied; besides, the accuracy of usage probability can be ensured due to the data from usage logs.
