The synthesis and biological evaluation of multifunctionalised derivatives of noscapine as cytotoxic agents.
Aaron DeBono,Sarah J. Mistry,Jin Han Xie,Divya Muthiah,Jackson Phillips,Sabatino Ventura,Richard Callaghan,Colin W. Pouton,Ben Capuano,Peter J. Scammells +9 more
TL;DR: The synthesis of a series of noscapine analogues, which have been modified in the 6′, 9′, 1 and 7‐positions, exhibited the most promising biological activities, with EC50 values in the low micromolar range against all three cancer cell lines, and these derivatives warrant further investigation.

Effect of increased surface hydrophobicity via drug conjugation on the clearance of inhaled PEGylated polylysine dendrimers.
Shadabul Haque,Victoria M. McLeod,Seth Adam Jones,Sandy Fung,Michael R. Whittaker,Michelle P. McIntosh,Colin W. Pouton,David J. Owen,Christopher J.H. Porter,Lisa M. Kaminskas,Lisa M. Kaminskas +10 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that the conjugation of hydrophobic drug on the surface of a P EGylated dendrimer is likely to accelerate lung clearance when compared to a fully PEGylateddendrimers.

In Vitro Maturation of Dopaminergic Neurons Derived from Mouse Embryonic Stem Cells: Implications for Transplantation
TL;DR: This study investigates, using live-cell fluorescence Ca2+ and Cl− imaging, the functional properties of catecholaminergic neurons as they mature and investigates whether GABA has the capacity to act as a neurotoxin early in the development of these neurons.
Isolation of LMX1a Ventral Midbrain Progenitors Improves the Safety and Predictability of Human Pluripotent Stem Cell-Derived Neural Transplants in Parkinsonian Disease
Isabelle R. de Luzy,Jonathan C. Niclis,Carlos W. Gantner,Jessica A. Kauhausen,Cameron P.J. Hunt,Cameron P.J. Hunt,Charlotte M. Ermine,Colin W. Pouton,Lachlan H. Thompson,Clare L. Parish +9 more
TL;DR: This is the first study to use an hPSC-derived reporter line to purify vm progenitors, resulting in improved safety, predictability of the graft composition, and enhanced motor function.

Lmx1a allows context-specific isolation of progenitors of GABAergic or dopaminergic neurons during neural differentiation of embryonic stem cells.
Christian M. Nefzger,Colin T. Su,Stewart A. Fabb,Brigham J. Hartley,Siew Joo Beh,Wendy R. Zeng,John M. Haynes,Colin W. Pouton +7 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that Lmx1a is a useful marker for the extraction of progenitors of GABAergic or dopaminergic neurons during in vitro differentiation of ESCs.
