Interplay Between Side Chain Pattern, Polymer Aggregation, and Charge Carrier Dynamics in PBDTTPD:PCBM Bulk‐Heterojunction Solar Cells
Clare Dyer-Smith,Ian A. Howard,Clément Cabanetos,Abdulrahman El Labban,Pierre M. Beaujuge,Frédéric Laquai +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, a PBDTTPD polymer with a combination of branched and linear substituents yields a doubling of the power conversion efficiency (PCE) to 8% using transient optical spectroscopy.
Ultrafast Terahertz Photoconductivity of Photovoltaic Polymer-Fullerene Blends: A Comparative Study Correlated with Photovoltaic Device Performance.
Zuanming Jin,Dominik Gehrig,Clare Dyer-Smith,Edwin J. Heilweil,Frédéric Laquai,Mischa Bonn,Dmitry Turchinovich +6 more
TL;DR: In PTB7:PC70BM, a strong dependency of electron momentum scattering time on electron density was found, well parametrized by the empirical Caughey-Thomas model, and the difference in ultrafast photoconductivities is found to correlate very well with the performance of photovoltaic devices based on those materials.

Triplet Formation in Fullerene Multi-Adduct Blends for Organic Solar Cells and Its Influence on Device Performance
TL;DR: In this paper, the formation of triplet states is addressed in blends of polyflorene polymers with a series of PCBM multi-adducts, and it is demonstrated that triplets occur when the offset energy between donor ionization potential and acceptor electron affi nity is ∼ 1.6 eV or greater.

Energy versus electron transfer in organic solar cells: a comparison of the photophysics of two indenofluorene: fullerene blend films
Ying Woan Soon,Tracey M. Clarke,Weimin Zhang,Tiziano Agostinelli,James Kirkpatrick,Clare Dyer-Smith,Iain McCulloch,Jenny Nelson,James R. Durrant +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compared the photophysics and photovoltaic device performance of two indenofluorene based polymers: poly[2,8-(6,6,12,12-tetraoctylindenof-luororene)-co-4,7-(2,1,3-benzothiodiazole] (IF8BT) and poly [2.8]-phenyl C61 butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM).
Long-Lived Exciplex Formation and Delayed Exciton Emission in Bulk Heterojunction Blends of Silole Derivative and Polyfluorene Copolymer: The Role of Morphology on Exciplex Formation and Charge Separation
Jessica J. Benson-Smith,Joanne S. Wilson,Clare Dyer-Smith,Kazuhiro Mouri,Shigehiro Yamaguchi,Hideyuki Murata,Jenny Nelson +6 more
TL;DR: Comparing blend films made using chlorobenzene and p-xylene solvents, it is found that exciplex lifetime and exciton regeneration in the blend film are sensitive to the choice of solvent and the resulting morphology of the Blend film.
