Defining the genetic architecture of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy: re-evaluating the role of non-sarcomeric genes
Roddy Walsh,Roddy Walsh,Rachel Buchan,Rachel Buchan,Alicja Wilk,Alicja Wilk,Shibu John,Shibu John,Leanne E. Felkin,Leanne E. Felkin,K Thomson,K Thomson,Tang Hak Chiaw,Calvin Chin Woon Loong,Chee Jian Pua,Claire E. Raphael,Sanjay K Prasad,Paul J.R. Barton,Paul J.R. Barton,Birgit Funke,Birgit Funke,Hugh Watkins,Hugh Watkins,James S. Ware,James S. Ware,Stuart A. Cook +25 more
TL;DR: It is shown that genetic variation in the majority of non-sarcomeric genes implicated in HCM is not associated with the condition, reinforce the fact that the sarcomeric gene variation is the primary cause of HCM known to date and underscore that the aetiology of H CM is unknown in themajority of patients.
Coronary Embolus: An Underappreciated Cause of Acute Coronary Syndromes
Claire E. Raphael,John A. Heit,Guy S. Reeder,Melanie C. Bois,Joseph J. Maleszewski,R. Thomas Tilbury,David R. Holmes +6 more
TL;DR: An investigation and management strategy for work-up and anticoagulation strategy for patients with suspected coronary embolism is proposed and the historic and contemporary published data about this important cause of acute coronary syndromes are reviewed.

Mechanisms of Myocardial Ischemia in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy: Insights From Wave Intensity Analysis and Magnetic Resonance.
Claire E. Raphael,Robert Cooper,Kim H. Parker,Julian Collinson,Vassilis Vassiliou,Dudley J. Pennell,Ranil de Silva,Li-Yueh Hsu,Anders M. Greve,S Nijjer,Chris Broyd,Aamir Ali,Jennifer Keegan,Darrel P. Francis,Justin E. Davies,Alun D. Hughes,Andrew E. Arai,Michael P. Frenneaux,Rod Stables,Carlo Di Mario,Sanjay K Prasad +20 more
TL;DR: In this paper, wave intensity analysis improves the understanding of the mechanics of myocardial ischemia in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and is associated with abnormal myocardia perfusion.

Incidence, Trends and Outcomes of Type 2 Myocardial Infarction in a Community Cohort
Claire E. Raphael,Véronique L. Roger,Yader Sandoval,Mandeep Singh,Malcolm R. Bell,Amir Lerman,Charanjit S. Rihal,Bernard J. Gersh,Bradley Lewis,Ryan J. Lennon,Allan S. Jaffe,Rajiv Gulati +11 more
TL;DR: Subclassification of T2MI by cause demonstrated a more favorable prognosis when the principal provoking mechanism was arrhythmia, in comparison with postoperative status, hypotension, anemia, and hypoxia, and the provoking mechanism of supply/demand mismatch affects long-term survival.

Defining the real-world reproducibility of visual grading of left ventricular function and visual estimation of left ventricular ejection fraction: impact of image quality, experience and accreditation.
Graham D. Cole,Niti M. Dhutia,Matthew J. Shun-Shin,Keith Willson,James Harrison,Claire E. Raphael,Massoud Zolgharni,Jamil Mayet,Darrel P. Francis +8 more
TL;DR: Clinicians should not assume that patients changing in grade or in visually estimated EF have had a genuine clinical change, and individuals cannot themselves identify when poor image quality is disrupting their LV function estimate.
