Passive photonic diodes based on natural van der Waals heterostructures
TL;DR: In this article, a few-layer franckeite via liquid-phase exfoliation method and characterized its third-order nonlinearity and ultra-fast dynamics experimentally.
Broadband saturable absorption of multilayer MoSSe alloy and its application in mid-infrared Q-switched fiber laser
Pinghua Tang,Lingling Yang,Jie Li,Jie Peng,Xiang Qi,Kaiqiang Hou,Haining Ji,Yu Mao,Chujun Zhao +8 more
TL;DR: Using MoSSe alloy as a saturable absorber to modulate the Er3+-doped fluoride fiber laser, a stable Q-switching with the output pulse width as short as 390 ns at 2790 nm was achieved in this article .
Drop-Casted Self-Assembled Topological Insulator Membrane as an Effective Saturable Absorber for Ultrafast Laser Photonics
TL;DR: In this article, the authors adopt the drop-casting approach in order to directly transfer few-layer topological insulator (TI) dispersion and form a self-assembled uniform volatile TI membrane that is suitably deposited onto the end facet of an optical fiber as an effective optical saturable absorber.
Dual-Wavelength Harmonically Mode-Locked Fiber Laser With Topological Insulator Saturable Absorber
Meng Liu,Nian Zhao,Hao Liu,Xu-Wu Zheng,Ai-Ping Luo,Zhi-Chao Luo,Wen-Cheng Xu,Chujun Zhao,Han Zhang,Shuangchun Wen +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, a dual-wavelength passively harmonic mode locking (HML) operation is demonstrated in an erbium-doped fiber laser with a microfiber-based topological insulator (TI) saturable absorber.
Thermally switchable bifunctional plasmonic metasurface for perfect absorption and polarization conversion based on VO2.
Hairong He,Xiongjun Shang,Liang Xu,Jiajia Zhao,Wangyang Cai,Jin Wang,Chujun Zhao,Ling-Ling Wang +7 more
TL;DR: Vanadium dioxide is introduced into a metallic square loop to constitute a switchable bifunctional plasmonic metasurface for perfect absorption and polarization conversion and the results show that at temperature T = 356 K, the metAsurface acts as a perfect absorber with nearly 91% absorptance at the wavelength of 1547 nm.
