Biometric identification has numerous advantages over conventional ID and password systems; however, the lack of anonymity and revocability of biometric templates is of concern. Several methods have been proposed to address these problems. Many of the approaches require a precise registration before matching in the anonymous domain. We introduce binary string representations of fingerprints that obviates the need for registration and can be directly matched. We describe several techniques for creating anonymous and revocable representations using these binary string representations. The match performance of these representations is evaluated using a large database of fingerprint images. We prove that given an anonymous representation, it is computationally infeasible to invert it to the original fingerprint, thereby preserving privacy. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first linear, anonymous and revocable fingerprint representation that is implicitly registered.

An environmental change in an environment within or adjacent to the client system is detected, resulting in executing a procedure for deciding whether to switch from playing the first media stream to playing a second media stream differing from the first media stream. The executed procedure decides to make the switch. The switch is made to playing the second media stream in the SHOW mode as the second media stream is being received from the content providing system in response having been requested from the content providing system. The switching preserves content continuity of the video.

Method and system for switching media streams in a client system based on environmental changes

Minutiae based fingerprint transactions are validated and authenticated over wireless based communications systems, such as over a Bluetooth wireless based communication system. Minutiae points are unique identification points on a fingerprint where a ridge in the fingerprint joins another ridge or a ridge ends. The combination of any three minutiae points forms a triangle, and the method/algorithm of the present invention uses triangles of minutiae points because triangles are proportional regardless of possible differences in scale of two fingerprints being compared. A first method/algorithm uses a minutiae exchange where triplets of minutiae points are exchanged and form triangles for comparison between an original template of minutiae points and a stored template of minutiae points. A second method/algorithm exchanges three linear equations for three pairs of minutiae points that form triangles for comparison between an original template and a stored template.
