Antiviral activity of TMC435 monotherapy in patients infected with HCV genotypes 2–6: TMC435-C202, a phase IIa, open-label study
Christophe Moreno,Thomas Berg,Tawesak Tanwandee,Satawat Thongsawat,Hans Van Vlierberghe,Stefan Zeuzem,Oliver Lenz,Monika Peeters,Vanitha Sekar,Goedele De Smedt +9 more
TL;DR: The results of this phase IIa proof-of-concept trial provide evidence that TMC435 has a spectrum of activity against multiple HCV genotypes, except for genotype 3.

Enteral nutrition with or without N-acetylcysteine in the treatment of severe acute alcoholic hepatitis: A randomized multicenter controlled trial
Christophe Moreno,Philippe Langlet,Axel-Benoit Hittelet,L Lasser,Delphine Degré,Sylvie Evrard,Isabelle Colle,Arnaud Lemmers,Jacques Devière,Olivier Le Moine +9 more
TL;DR: In this study, high doses of intravenous N-acetylcysteine therapy for 14 days conferred neither survival benefits nor early biological improvement in severe acute alcoholic hepatitis patients with adequate nutritional support.

PNPLA3 and tm6SF2 variants as risk factors of hepatocellular carcinoma across various etiologies and severity of underlying liver diseases.
Jiecheng Yang,Eric Trepo,Eric Trepo,Pierre Nahon,Pierre Nahon,Qian Cao,Christophe Moreno,Eric Letouzé,Sandrine Imbeaud,Thierry Gustot,Jacques Devière,Stéphanie Debette,Philippe Amouyel,Paulette Bioulac-Sage,Julien Calderaro,Nathalie Ganne-Carrié,Nathalie Ganne-Carrié,Alexis Laurent,Jean-Frédéric Blanc,Erwan Guyot,Angela Sutton,Marianne Ziol,Marianne Ziol,Jessica Zucman-Rossi,Jean-Charles Nault,Jean-Charles Nault +25 more
TL;DR: PNPLA3‐rs738409 and TM6SF2‐rs58542926 are inherited risk variants of HCC development in patients with ALD in a dose dependent manner and suggest a direct role in liver carcinogenesis.

Javier Fernández,Paolo Angeli,Jonel Trebicka,Manuela Merli,Thierry Gustot,Carlo Alessandria,Niels Kristian Aagaard,Andrea De Gottardi,Tania M. Welzel,Alexander L. TL;DR: In a randomized trial of patients with advanced cirrhosis and non-SBP infections, in-hospital mortality was similar between those who received albumin plus antibiotics vs those who receive only antibiotics (controls), however, patients given albumin were sicker at baseline and, during the follow-up period, a higher proportion had ACLF resolution and a lower proportion had nosocomial infections.

Marked 25-hydroxyvitamin D deficiency is associated with poor prognosis in patients with alcoholic liver disease.
Eric Trepo,Romy Ouziel,Pierre Pradat,Pierre Pradat,Yukihide Momozawa,Eric Quertinmont,Christine Gervy,Thierry Gustot,Delphine Degré,Vincent Vercruysse,Pierre Deltenre,Laurine Verset,Béatrice Gulbis,Denis Franchimont,Jacques Devière,Arnaud Lemmers,Christophe Moreno +16 more
TL;DR: Low 25(OH)D levels are associated with increased liver damage and mortality in ALD, and the results suggest that vitamin D might be both a biomarker of severity and a potential therapeutic target inALD.
