The genetics of alcohol dependence and alcohol-related liver disease
TL;DR: The susceptibility to developing alcohol dependence and significant alcohol-related liver injury is determined by a number of constitutional, environmental and genetic factors, although the nature and level of interplay between them remains unclear.

Non-invasive diagnosis and biomarkers in alcohol-related liver disease.
TL;DR: Control attenuation parameter was developed as a novel tool to non-invasively assess liver steatosis; performed in combination with transient elastography, it was suggested to be superior to regular ultrasound for detecting Steatosis and was shown to have acceptable diagnostic accuracy.

TL;DR: IA is a frequent complication of severe AH and carries a very high risk of mortality, andSystematic screening for IA should be recommended in patients with high-risk populations requiring antifungal prophylactic treatment.

Safety, feasibility and weight loss after transoral gastroplasty: First human multicenter study
Jacques Devière,G. Ojeda Valdes,L. Cuevas Herrera,Jean Closset,O. Le Moine,P. Eisendrath,Christophe Moreno,Sonia Dugardeyn,Marie Barea,R. la de Torre,Steven A. Edmundowicz,Sue Scott +11 more
TL;DR: There is great interest in new procedures for morbid obesity that could offer lower morbidity than current options, and early experience with the TOGa procedure indicates that this transoral approach may be safe and feasible.
Non-invasive diagnosis of liver fibrosis in patients with alcohol-related liver disease by transient elastography: an individual patient data meta-analysis
Eric Nguyen-Khac,Maja Thiele,Maja Thiele,Cosmin Sebastian Voican,Pierre Nahon,Christophe Moreno,Jérôme Boursier,Sebastian Mueller,Victor de Ledinghen,Peter Stärkel,Sang Gyune Kim,M. Fernandez,Bjørn Stæhr Madsen,Bjørn Stæhr Madsen,Sylvie Naveau,Aleksander Krag,Aleksander Krag,Gabriel Perlemuter,Marianne Ziol,Denis Chatelain,Momar Diouf +20 more
TL;DR: An individual patient data (IPD) meta-analysis found a link between liver stiffness and the histological features of asymptomatic and non-severe alcoholic hepatitis, reflected by AST and bilirubin concentrations, which should be taken into account in FibroScan assessments of liver fibrosis.
