The clinical advantage of fixed 8-mm diameter VCX stents over underdilated VTS stents is not established in refractory ascites.
Sohaïb Mansour,Arnaud Lemmers,Eric Trepo,Christophe Moreno,Pierre Deltenre +4 more
- 12 Jun 2021
TL;DR: It is suggested that the use of fixed 8mm diameter VCX stents improves 1-year survival and reduces the risk of encephalopathy and hepatic decompensation compared to former VTS stents initially underdilated to 8 mm.

Usefulness of viral kinetics for early prediction of a sustained virological response in HCV-1 non-responders re-treated with pegylated interferon and ribavirin.
Pierre Deltenre,Marion Corouge,Valérie Canva,Hélène Castel,F. Wartel,Sébastien Dharancy,Alexandre Louvet,Mouna Lazrek,Christophe Moreno,Jean Henrion,Philippe Mathurin +10 more
TL;DR: All HCV-1 non-responders who did not have a 1-log drop in viral load at 1 month remainedHCV-RNA-detectable at 3 months, and only 4% attained a SVR, suggesting this new criterion can be used early on as a first stopping rule.

The role of TIPS in patients with cirrhosis and ascites: recent evolution and open questions.
TL;DR: There is still a need to identify the best timing for TIPS placement in the natural history of ascites (recurrent vs. refractory) as well as which type and level of renal dysfunction is acceptable when TIPS is proposed for the treatment of ascite in cirrhosis.
