Low-volume resuscitation with normal saline is associated with microvascular endothelial dysfunction after hemorrhage in rats, compared to colloids and balanced crystalloids.
TL;DR: Resuscitation with NS failed to inhibit syndecan-1 shedding and to repair the EG, which led to loss of endothelial barrier function (edema), decline in tissue perfusion and pronounced leukocyte rolling and adhesion, which provides a pathophysiological basis to understand and prevent morbidity associated with iatrogenic resuscitation after hemorrhagic shock.

Refrigerated platelets stored in whole blood up to 5 days adhere to thrombi formed during hemorrhagic hypotension in rats.

TL;DR: In vivo data suggest that refrigerated platelets are hemostatically effective during hypotension, as well as those stored at room temperature.

An in vitro pilot study of apheresis platelets collected on Trima Accel system and stored in T-PAS+ solution at refrigeration temperature (1-6°C).

TL;DR: Using platelet additive solution (PAS) to dilute fibrinogen during long‐term cold storage of platelets (PLTs) decreases PLT activation and increases functional PLT shelf life.

Human primary fibroblasts perform similarly to MSCs in assays used to evaluate MSC safety and potency.
Barbara A. Christy,Barbara A. Christy,Maryanne C. Herzig,Christopher P. Delavan,Carolina Cantu,Christi Salgado,James A. Bynum,James A. Bynum,James A. Bynum,Andrew P. Cap,Andrew P. Cap +10 more
TL;DR: Human primary fibroblasts were compared to MSCs in assays designed to evaluate MSC’s to determine if these assays actually evaluate properties unique to M SCs or whether related cell types perform similarly.

Use of multiple potency assays to evaluate human mesenchymal stromal cells.

TL;DR: It is found that the indoleamine-2,3-dioxygenase enzyme activity assay represents a simple way to screen multiple samples and adds another facet to MSC evaluation.
