Neurofilament light chain is increased in the parahippocampal cortex and associates with pathological hallmarks in Parkinson’s disease dementia
Irene Frigerio,Max A. Laansma,Chenxin Lin,Emma J. M. Hermans,Maud M. A. Bouwman,John G.J.M. Bol,Yvonne Galis-de Graaf,Dagmar H. Hepp,Annemieke J.M. Rozemuller,Frederik Barkhof,W. D. J. van de Berg,Laura E. Jonkman +11 more
TL;DR: In this article , the distribution of neurofilaments in the cerebral cortex of Parkinson's disease (PD), PD with dementia (PDD) and dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) donors, and its association with pathology load and MRI measures of atrophy and diffusivity.
Pedunculopontine Nucleus Deep Brain Stimulation Improves Gait Disorder in Parkinson’s Disease: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
TL;DR: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized and nonrandomized controlled trials to assess the effect of deep brain stimulation of the pedunculopontine nucleus on gait disorder in patients with Parkinson’s disease and found PPN–DBS is a potential therapeutic target that could improve gait and fall disorders in Patients with PD.

Microstructural integrity of the locus coeruleus and its tracts reflect noradrenergic degeneration in Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease
Chenxin Lin,Irene Frigerio,John J. Bol,Maud M. A. Bouwman,Alex J. Wesseling,Martin J. Dahl,Annemieke J.M. Rozemuller,Ysbrand D. van der Werf,Petra J. W. Pouwels,W. D. J. van de Berg,Laura E. Jonkman +10 more
TL;DR: In AD and PD, the diffusion MRI-detected alterations within the LC and its tracts to the DLPFC and the M1 were associated with local noradrenergic neuronal loss within the LC, rather than noradrenergic changes in the cortex.

Nigral pathology contributes to microstructural integrity of striatal and frontal tracts in Parkinson’s disease
Chenxin Lin,Lydian Knoop,Irene Frigerio,John G.J.M. Bol,Annemieke J.M. Rozemuller,Henk W. Berendse,Petra J. W. Pouwels,W. D. J. van de Berg,Laura E. Jonkman +8 more
TL;DR: In this article , the mean diffusivity (MD) and fractional anisotropy (FA) were derived from the substantia nigra (SN) and its tracts between the SN and caudate nucleus, putamen, and DLPFC.

Parietal‐temporal structural network reorganization is associated with pathological load and axonal damage in Alzheimer’s disease: a post‐mortem MRI and pathology study.
Laura E. Jonkman,Niels Reijner,Irene Frigerio,Maud M. A. Bouwman,Chenxin Lin,Annemieke J.M. Rozemuller,Femke H. Bouwman,Linda Douw,Wilma D.J. Berg +8 more

TL;DR: This study aims to assess whether local proteinopathy and/or axonal degeneration contributes to regionally altered network measures of integration and segregation in clinically‐defined and pathologically‐confirmed Alzheimer’s disease and control brain donors.
