TL;DR: In this study, spherical shaped chiral mesoporous silica nanoparticles (CMS) was biomimetic synthesized using histidine derivatives (C16‐L‐histidine) as template via the sol–gel reaction and employed as poorly water‐soluble drug nimodipine (NMP) carrier to improve the brain distribution of NMP in vivo.

Mesoporous silicas templated by heterocyclic amino acid derivatives: Biomimetic synthesis and drug release application.
Heran Li,Heran Li,Jia Ke,Haiting Li,Chen Wei,Xueqian Wu,Jing Li,Yang Yang,Lu Xu,Hongzhuo Liu,Sanming Li,Mingshi Yang,Minjie Wei +12 more
TL;DR: It is convincible that the biomimetic method presented here provided novel insight on precisely control of mesoporous silica and undoubtedly promoted the application of mesoplastic silica materials.

Biomimetic synthesis of proline-derivative templated mesoporous silica for increasing the brain distribution of diazepam and improving the pharmacodynamics of nimesulide.
TL;DR: After incorporating into CMS, the therapeutic effects of NMS were obviously improved, and the inhibition rates of 1:3 NMS/CMS in all pharmacodynamics tests varied from 102.2% to 904.3%.
