
Purpose
“The purpose of this paper is to review the literature on service innovation during the past two decades and provide an analysis of sources of publication, citations and authorship using bibliometric analysis techniques (VOSviewer).” This paper aims to assesses the important trends, enhance the academic debate, identify research gaps and propose future directions and a research agenda.


Design/methodology/approach
This paper examines 176 articles in English language published from 2002 to 2022 from the Scopus database by adopting the bibliometric technique using VOSviewer software. This paper analyzes the different levels and boundaries of service innovation using bibliometric analysis of “service innovation research” using VOSviewer software. The methodology analyzes the number of citations, co-citations, keywords, authors, journals and countries.


Findings
The review of the past 20 years indicates a substantial growth in the number of good research publications on service innovation. The UK, the USA, Sweden and Australia dominate this research area with the most articles published to date under the subject area of “Business management.” The review highlighted that most of the studies on service innovation focused on products, companies and processes in the services industry. The most critical factors behind service innovation failure are improper management and lack of knowledge. The citation analysis revealed various research implications and directions for the future.


Research limitations/implications
This study focuses only on service innovation and excludes research on performance management and control. Thus, future studies may explore this area of research in future studies. Only research articles were analyzed; conference papers, reports, manuals and white papers from practice were excluded. Research implications indicate that future studies on service innovation would be essential for organizational excellence, not process excellence.


Originality/value
This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the current status and essential trends of research on service innovation. This study identifies the research gaps and provides a clear research agenda for understanding the various elements of service innovation.


Service innovation research: a bibliometric analysis using VOSviewer

In line with calls to stimulate methodological diversity and support evidence‐based human resource development (HRD) through quantitative competencies, we present a methods demonstration leveraging open‐source tools and lesser‐known quantitative research methods to support the HRD research community and applied HRD in the workplace. In this paper, we provide an informative introduction to partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS‐SEM). We discuss PLS‐SEM application trends in the field of HRD, present key characteristics of the method, and demonstrate up‐to‐date metrics and evaluation guidelines using an illustrative model. Our PLS‐SEM demonstration and explanations can serve as a valuable resource for practitioners concerned with substantiating results for organizational stakeholders and support researchers in methodological decision‐making while avoiding common pitfalls associated with less familiar methods. Our step‐by‐step demonstration is conducted in open‐source software and accompanied by explicitly coded operations so that readers can easily replicate the illustrative analyses presented.

PLS‐SEM: A method demonstration in the R statistical environment

Research in the field of digital HR transformation has gained significant momentum due to the influence of business transformation driven by digital technology. However, despite its growing prominence, the research on this topic remains relatively scattered and dispersed. Therefore, the authors employed bibliometric analytic methodologies in this article to portray the intellectual structure of literature related to digital developments in HR. A comprehensive analysis of 184 articles from the Scopus database is conducted using bibliometric methods, including citations, co-citations, and keyword analysis. Using bibliometric analysis, this paper thoroughly evaluates advancements made possible by digitalization in HR management. Utilizing visualization software such as Biblioshiny and VOSviewer, the analysis reveals the incremental trend of publications, research studies, affiliated organizations, and research-driven nations over time. Notably, the examination of the co-citation network using VOSviewer yields significant findings. This study contributes to the evolving body of HR literature and expands our understanding of HR digitalization through the application of bibliometric analysis. 

Digital Human Resource Transformation - A Bibliometric Analysis

Abstrak: Kajian mengenai Islamic fintech semakin berkembang seiring dengan kemajuan teknologi dan fintech. Tujuan dari kajian ini adalah untuk mengkaji tren perkembangan kajian Islamic fintech yang telah diterbitkan dalam jurnal yang terindeks Scopus dengan menggunakan kata kunci yaitu islamic fintech, islamic financial technology, sharia fintech, dan sharia financial technology. Analisis dilakukan terhadap karakteristik dan tren kata, serta abstrak, penulis, dan jurnal. Data yang dianalisis meliputi 95 artikel yang ditulis oleh 251 penulis dan terpublikasi dalam 56 jurnal. Metode analisis bibliometrik digunakan dengan menggunakan R Biblioshiny untuk menghasilkan peta bibliometrik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam jumlah publikasi tentang Islamic fintech. Dalam analisis bibliometrik, ditemukan bahwa para penulis cenderung mengkaji isu-isu terkait pengguna Islamic fintech dengan menggunakan beberapa teori penerimaan aplikasi, sehingga pendekatan kuantitatif lebih dominan. Beberapa tema penelitian yang memiliki potensi untuk berkembang di masa depan meliputi isu pengguna, layanan keuangan sosial Islam, dan dampak terhadap performa dan pertumbuhan ekonomi. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi bagi penelitian masa depan serta memberikan pembaruan ilmiah dalam penilaian publikasi Islamic fintech yang memiliki pentingnya baik dari segi praktis maupun teoritis bagi kalangan akademisi.

Abstract: Studies on Islamic fintech are growing with advances in technology and fintech The purpose of this study is to examine the development trend of Islamic fintech studies that have been published in Scopus indexed journals using the keywords islamic fintech, islamic financial technology, sharia fintech, and sharia financial technology. The characteristics and trends of words, abstracts, authors, and journals were analyzed. The data analyzed included 95 articles written by 251 authors and published in 56 journals. The bibliometric analysis method was used in R Biblioshiny to produce bibliometric maps. The results indicate a significant increase in the number of publications on Islamic fintech. The results of the bibliometric analysis found that the authors tend to examine issues related to Islamic fintech users using several theories of application acceptance, so that the quantitative approach is more dominant. Several research themes that have the potential to develop in the future include user issues, Islamic social financial services, and their impact on economic performance and growth. This study contributes to future research and provides scientific updates in the assessment of Islamic fintech publications, which have both practical and theoretical importance for academics.

Uncovering the research landscape of islamic fintech: a bibliometric analysis

Twenty years of sustainable development and port authorities: A critical review of the literature


Purpose
This paper aims to analyze the development of global human resource development (HRD) articles published in journals indexed in the Scopus database since 1960s until present time.


Design/methodology/approach
A publication collection of 1,905 articles collected from the Scopus database was downloaded and analyzed by using bibliometric techniques available in the VOSviewer and Biblioshiny software.


Findings
Three different development stages of HRD research have been identified: a seeding stage between 1962 and 1989, a growth stage between 1990 and 2007 and a development stage from 2008 onward. The USA and the UK were the biggest contributors who participated to 30.02% and 12.55% of articles in the collection and received 43.82% and 19.54% of the total number of citations, respectively. Scholars with the most publications and citations are mostly from the USA and the UK, and nine over ten most cited articles having first author’s affiliation located there. Emerald Group is the most popular publishing house, as five over ten most popular journals belong to this publishing house.


Originality/value
After six decades of development, it is necessary to examine the evolution of HRD research, its characteristics and its intellectual framework as this type of analysis is not yet available in the literature. This study helps scholars better understand this research field, as well as better prepare for future work in HRD.
