Macromolecular Diffusion in a Crowded Polymer Nanocomposite
Sangah Gam,Jeffrey S. Meth,Steve G. Zane,Changzai Chi,Barbara A. Wood,Michelle E. Seitz,Karen I. Winey,Nigel Clarke,Russell J. Composto +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured tracer diffusion for deuterated polystyrene (dPS) into a poly styrene (PS):silica nanoparticle (NP) matrix using elastic recoil detection.

Dielectric breakdown in silica-amorphous polymer nanocomposite films: the role of the polymer matrix.
Christopher A. Grabowski,Scott P. Fillery,Scott P. Fillery,Nicholas M. Westing,Changzai Chi,Jeffrey S. Meth,Michael F. Durstock,Richard A. Vaia +7 more
TL;DR: These findings indicate that adding colloidal silica to higher breakdown strength amorphous polymers causes a reduction in dielectric strength as compared to the neat polymer, and that at these loadings failure becomes independent of polymer matrix and is dominated by silica.

Polymer diffusion in a polymer nanocomposite: effect of nanoparticle size and polydispersity
Sangah Gam,Jeffrey S. Meth,Steve G. Zane,Changzai Chi,Barbara A. Wood,Karen I. Winey,Nigel Clarke,Russell J. Composto +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the tracer diffusion of deuterated polystyrene (dPS) is measured in a poly styrene nanocomposite containing silica nanoparticles (NPs), with number average diameters dn of 28.8 nm and 12.6 nm, using elastic recoil detection.

Method for preparing rare-earth doped fluoride nanoparticles
Changzai Chi,Daniel Albert Green,Kurt Richard Mikeska,Lee A. Silverman +3 more
- 31 May 2006
TL;DR: In this article, a process of combining an aqueous solution of a fluoride with a host multi-valent metal salt and forming a reactant mixture resulting in a precipitate of aqueously insoluble rare-earth doped multi-Valent metal fluoride nanoparticles was described.

Syntheses and applications of nano-sized iron particles
Changzai Chi
- 19 Jul 2006
TL;DR: In this paper, the present invention relates to syntheses of nano-sized iron particles formed by mixing a source of ferrous iron with a combination of reducing agent and base, and the particles formed therefrom.
