Restoring cortical control of functional movement in a human with quadriplegia
Chad E. Bouton,Chad E. Bouton,Ammar Shaikhouni,Nicholas V. Annetta,Marcia A. Bockbrader,David A. Friedenberg,Dylan M. Nielson,Gaurav Sharma,Per B. Sederberg,Bradley C. Glenn,W. Jerry Mysiw,Austin Morgan,Milind Deogaonkar,Ali R. Rezai +13 more
TL;DR: This is the first demonstration of successful control of muscle activation using intracortically recorded signals in a paralysed human, and has significant implications in advancing neuroprosthetic technology for people worldwide living with the effects of paralysis.

Detection of fluids in tissue
Chad E. Bouton,Alan D. Hirschman +1 more
- 26 Jul 2002
TL;DR: In this article, a method of detecting changes in the level of fluid in tissue of a body by applying electromagnetic energy to a first volume of the body over a period of time was presented.

Electromagnetic sensors for biological tissue applications and methods for their use
Chad E. Bouton
- 26 Jul 2002
TL;DR: In this paper, a method was proposed to convert a reference signal to complex form and then determine a complex distance between the reference signal and a reference point in the complex plane. But the method was not suitable for the case of tissue sensors, where the sensor nodes are flush with or recessed below the superstrate and a transitional periphery is defined between the housing and superstrate.

Identification of cytokine-specific sensory neural signals by decoding murine vagus nerve activity.
Theodoros P. Zanos,Harold A. Silverman,Todd J. Levy,Tea Tsaava,Emily Battinelli,Peter William Lorraine,Jeffrey Michael Ashe,Sangeeta S. Chavan,Kevin J. Tracey,Chad E. Bouton +9 more
TL;DR: The results obtained in this study suggest that cytokine-specific information is present in sensory neural signals within the vagus nerve, and methods to isolate and decode specific neural signals to discriminate between two different cytokines.

System for determining performance characteristics of a golf swing
John T. Stites,Gary G. Tavares,Carl L. Madore,Mike Kelly,Raymond J. Sander,Jeffrey A. Hadden,Jeffrey R. Held,Garrick L. Meanle,Gregory S. Kramer,Chad E. Bouton,Clifford N. Dodson,Patrick K. Hoffman +11 more
- 22 Mar 2005
TL;DR: In this paper, a variety of golf swing parameters are measured by the instrumented golf club and wirelessly transmitted to a portable computer device. Butler et al. proposed a system that allows a golfer to receive feedback in real time while playing golf.
