The identification of lead ammunition as a source of lead exposure in First Nations: the use of lead isotope ratios.
Leonard J. S. Tsuji,Bruce Wainman,Ian D. Martin,Celine Sutherland,Jean-Philippe Weber,Pierre Dumas,Evert Nieboer,Evert Nieboer +7 more
TL;DR: Lead ammunition was identified as a source of lead exposure for First Nations people; however, the isotope ratios for lead shotshell pellets and bullets were indistinguishable.

Lead shot contribution to blood lead of First Nations people: the use of lead isotopes to identify the source of exposure.
Leonard J. S. Tsuji,Bruce Wainman,Ian D. Martin,Celine Sutherland,Jean-Philippe Weber,Pierre Dumas,Evert Nieboer,Evert Nieboer +7 more
TL;DR: It appears that the activity of hunting was also an important route of lead exposure, and the banning of lead shotshell for all game hunting would eliminate a source of environmental lead for all people who use firearms and/or eat wild game.

Collaborative geomatics and the Mushkegowuk Cree First Nations: Fostering adaptive capacity for community-based sub-arctic natural resource management
Daniel D. McCarthy,Graham S. Whitelaw,Scott Anderson,Donald D. Cowan,Fred McGarry,Anthony Robins,Holly L. Gardner,Christine D. Barbeau,Nadia A. Charania,Zachariah General,Jeff Liedtke,Celine Sutherland,Paulo S. C. Alencar,Leonard J. S. Tsuji +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explored the use of collaborative geomatics tools to enhance the Mushkegowuk First Nations' adaptive capacity to address environmental and policy change by allowing them to collect and manage data collaboratively.

The Mid-Canada Radar Line and First Nations’ People of the James Bay region, Canada: an evaluation using log-linear contingency modelling to analyze organochlorine frequency data
Leonard J. S. Tsuji,Bruce Wainman,Ian D. Martin,Jean-Philippe Weber,Celine Sutherland,J. Richard Elliott,Evert Nieboer +6 more
TL;DR: The levels of PCBs found for women in Fort Albany and Kashechewan were greater than those reported for Dene (First Nation people) and Métis (mixed heritage) of the western Northwest Territories (NWT) and for Inuit living in the central NWT (occasional consumers of marine mammals).

Elevated Blood-lead Levels in First Nation People of Northern Ontario Canada: Policy Implications
Leonard J. S. Tsuji,Bruce Wainman,Ian D. Martin,Jean-Philippe Weber,Celine Sutherland,Eric N. Liberda,Evert Nieboer +6 more
TL;DR: The preliminary impact of the Canadian “non-toxic” shotshell policy, for the hunting of migratory game birds, is evaluated by examining blood-lead levels of First Nations people living in sub-arctic Canada, with some concern in that approximately 18% of the 196 First Nation people examined had blood- lead levels ≥100 μg/L.
