The present invention relates to methods for regulating the condition of mammalian keratinous tissue wherein the methods comprise the step of topically applying to the keratinous tissue of a mammal needing such treatment, a safe and effective amount of a composition comprising: a) a safe and effective amount of one or more phytosterols selected from the group consisting of β-sitosterol, campesterol, brassicasterol, Δ5-avennasterol, lupenol, α-spinasterol, stigmasterol, their derivatives, and combinations thereof; and b) a dermatologically acceptable carrier for the phytosterol. In additional embodiments, the above composition is suitable for thickening skin and preventing, retarding, and/or treating atrophy of mammalian skin, preventing, retarding, and/or treating the appearance of dark, under-eye circles and/or puffy eyes, preventing, retarding, and/or treating sallowness of mammalian skin, preventing and/or retarding tanning of mammalian skin, regulating and/or reducing the size of pores in mammalian skin, desquamating, exfoliating, and/or increasing turnover of mammalian skin, regulating oily/shiny appearance, preventing/retarding post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation in mammalian skin, and preventing and/or treating the appearance of cellulite in mammalian skin.

Methods for regulating the condition of mammalian keratinous tissue via topical application of phytosterol compositions

An electronically-controlled roll-up window shade that can easily be installed by a homeowner or general handyman is disclosed. The invention relates to a method for the durable shaping of keratin fibres, in which the fibres are treated with an aqueous preparation of a keratin-reducing substance before and/or after mechanical shaping. Once the substance has taken effect, the fibres are rinsed with a first rinse and then fixed with an aqueous preparation of an oxidation agent. Once said oxidation agent has taken effect, the fibres are rinsed again. The method is characterised in that an aqueous preparation of the keratin-reducing substance and/or the oxidation agent is used, containing (a) 0.1 to 20 % by weight of alkoxylated carboxylic acid esters and (b) 0.1 to 20 % by weight of fatty acid partial glycerides, with the proviso that the quantities indicated, together with the addition of water and optionally additional auxiliary agents and additives amount to 100 % by weight.

Aqueous oral and dental care compositions are comprising of: (a) from about 0.1 to about 20% by weight of surfactant granules which are the product of the process which comprises subjecting an aqueous paste comprised of from about 40 to about 60% by weight of a monoglyceride (ether) sulfate to simultaneous drying and granulation in a fluidized bed; (b) from about 1 to about 25% by weight of an abrasive, a polish, or a combination thereof; (c) from 0 to about 65% by weight of a humectant; (d) from 0 to about 2% by weight of chitosan; (e) from 0 to about 3% by weight of a flavoring and; (f) from 0 to about 5% by weight other auxiliaries including water wherein the weight of all components adds up to 100% by weight.
