Dietary inclusion of IMTA-cultivated Gracilaria vermiculophylla in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) diets: effects on growth, intestinal morphology, tissue pigmentation, and immunological response
Mariana Araújo,Paulo Rema,Isabel Sousa-Pinto,Luís Miguel Cunha,Maria João Peixoto,Maria dos Anjos Pires,Fernanda Seixas,Vanda Brotas,Carolina Beltrán,Luisa M.P. Valente +9 more
TL;DR: G5 diet enhanced the innate immune response of rainbow trout inducing the highest peroxidase, alternative complement, and lysozyme activities and showed the lowest muscle carotenoid content in these fish.

Phytoplankton response to nutrient pulses in an upwelling system assessed through a microcosm experiment (Algarrobo Bay, Chile)
TL;DR: In this paper, a microcosm experiment using natural assemblages was conducted, following the addition of inorganic nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) and considering two different nutrient limitation conditions (N:P 16). Laboratory work included the analysis of nutrients, as well as phytoplankton cell abundances.

Complementary Approaches to Assess Phytoplankton Groups and Size Classes on a Long Transect in the Atlantic Ocean
Vanda Brotas,Glen A. Tarran,V. Veloso,Robert J. W. Brewin,E. Malcolm S. Woodward,Ruth L. Airs,Carolina Beltrán,Afonso Ferreira,Steve Groom +8 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors compared three size classes of phytoplankton: micro-, nano-, and picoplankton, and identified and enumerated phyto-ankton taxa by microscopy or by flow cytometry, converting into carbon.
Phytoplankton in two tropical mangroves of São Tomé Island (Gulf of Guinea): A contribution towards sustainable management strategies
Ana C. Brito,Teresa Silva,Teresa Silva,Carolina Beltrán,Paula Chainho,Ricardo Franco de Lima +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, water samples were collected, for phytoplankton (pigments and microscopy) and other environmental parameters, from two mangrove lagoons in Sao Tome Island.

Phytoplankton community dynamics in a coastal bay under upwelling influence (Central Chile)
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated how phytoplankton communities respond to environmental conditions, particularly in upwelling areas, and found that the southern part of the Algarrobo Bay, with higher residence times and nutrient discharges, may act as an upwelled shadow area, where phyto-ankton species can accumulate.
