Fragmentation of carbohydrate anomeric alkoxyl radicals. A new synthesis of chiral ß-iodo azides, vinyl azides and 2H-azirines
TL;DR: This work has shown that the reaction of 3-azido-2,3-dideoxy-hexopyranose compounds from the d-gluco, d-galacto, l-arabino carbohydrate series, with (diacetoxyiodo)benzene and iodine, generated two beta-iodo azides and 2H-azirines that may be interesting chiral synthons for the preparation of more complex heterocyclic systems.

Synthesis of polyhydroxylated 2H-azirines and 2-halo-2H-azirines from 3-azido-2,3-dideoxyhexopyranoses by alkoxyl radical fragmentation.
TL;DR: Thermolysis and photochemical studies of these vinyl azides and 1-halovinyl azides for the synthesis of polyhydroxylated 3-alkyl-2 H-azirines and the hitherto unknown 2-halo-3-alky-2H-azIRines have also been accomplished.

Alkoxyl radical fragmentation of 3-azido-2,3-dideoxy-2-halo-hexopyranoses: a new entry to chiral polyhydroxylated 2-azido-1-halo-1-alkenes
TL;DR: A new general two-step methodology for the synthesis of chiral fluoro, chloro, bromo and iodo vinyl azides from carbohydrate-derived halohydrins has been developed and preliminary thermolysis and photochemical studies of these compounds forThe synthesis of hitherto unknown disubstituted 2-halo-3-alkyl-2H-azirines have also been accomplished.

Fragmentation of carbohydrate anomeric alkoxyl radicals. Synthesis of highly functionalized chiral vinyl sulfones
Carmen R. Alonso‐Cruz,Elisa I. León,Francisco Javier Ortiz-López,María S. Rodríguez,Ernesto Suárez +4 more
TL;DR: The reaction of derivatives of 3-acetyl-d-glucal, 3-et al. with sodium benzenesulfinate in acid medium catalyzed by HgSO4 afforded diastereoisomeric mixtures of the corresponding 2,3-dideoxy-3-(phenylsulfonyl)-hexopyranoses through a Ferrier rearrangement as mentioned in this paper.
