The invention provides a preparation method for hyperbranched self-repairing waterborne polyurethane and an emulsion thereof. The method comprises the steps: subjecting micromolecular polyol and bis(hydroxymethyl)propionic acid to a reaction for 2 to 3 hours in the presence of a catalyst, so as to obtain hyperbranched polyol; subjecting dried and dehydrated polyol, dithiodiol, diisocyanate and a catalyst to a prepolymerization reaction for 2 to 5 hours at the temperature of 60 DEG C to 90 DEG C, then, adding the synthesized hyperbranched polyol and a hydrophilic chain extender, and continuingto carry out a reaction for 2 to 4 hours at the temperature of 60 DEG C to 90 DEG C; cooling a temperature to 40 DEG C to 50 DEG C, and adding a neutralizer; and adding materials into dispersing equipment after a reaction is complete, carrying out dispersing with high-speed stirring, and carrying out standing defoaming, thereby preparing the hyperbranched self-repairing waterborne polyurethane emulsion. According to the preparation method provided by the invention, the reaction temperature is low, the reaction rate is stable, the operation is simple and convenient, the energy consumption is low, the preparation process is safe, and the prepared hyperbranched waterborne polyurethane has the outstanding advantages of good stability, high self-repairing efficiency, and the like.
