In this paper, a multi-product Economic Production Quantity (EPQ) inventory model for a defective production system by a single machine is considered. The faulty produced products are reworked or are put on auction as they are. The aim of this research is to determine the optimal cycle length and the percentage of reworking every fault product such that the total inventory cost, including setup, production, holding, reworking, and lost profit, is minimized. We have proved that this problem is a convex non-linear programming method. Therefore, we came up with the exact algorithm based on differentiation to solve it. Finally, a sensitivity analysis is performed to evaluate the effect of changes in different parameters of the problem.

A single machine EPQ inventory model for a multi-product imperfect production system with rework process and auction

Problem statement: An exponentially decaying inventory was first developed by[10]. The certain commodities were observed to shrink with time by a proportion which can be approximated by a negative exponential function of time. Here, the novelty we took into consideration was that a constant hazardous rate followed by the two-parameter exponential distribution. Approach: We studied the inventory system with two-parameter exponential distributed hazardous items in which production and demand rate were constant. Results: The mathematical model was developed with an exponential distribution hazardous item to obtain the total cost per unit time of an inventory system. It was illustrated with the help of numerical example. The inventory controlled systems in terms of first order differential equations were solved numerically. The effect of changes in the model parameters on decision variables and average total cost of an inventory system were studied through numerical example. Conclusion: This study minimized the total cost for constant hazardous rate of exponential distribution.

Partially deteriorated items are allowed to carry discount, no shortage is allowed. The optimal cycle time is derived and the result is applied to numerical problems.

At present, the entire globe gets engaged in importing and exporting the products for promoting their business in which supply chain management is playing a vital role. The main aspect of any effective supply chain management is the transportation of cargoes. To avoid the damages of cargoes during transportation and for minimizing the cost, the returnable containers are used. The present research deals with an inventory model of Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier (NVOCC) for returnable containers with price dependent demand under fuzzy environment. In this study, it is presumed that the import of cargoes is less than the export. The Empty Container Repositioning (ECR) and the leasing options are utilized to replace the deficit containers which prevent shortages. The proportion of the used containers returned, the proportion of the repositioned containers and the fraction of repairable from the returned containers are considered as Triangular Fuzzy Numbers [TFNs]. Fuzzy inventory model is framed for the purpose of attaining optimal length of the screening, the repositioning cycle and the leasing cycle which are used to minimize the expected total cost and the proposed model is illustrated with the numerical example. The sensitivity analysis is performed to show the effect of fuzziness of return rate, repositioning rate and repairable percentage along with the changes in parameters.

Fuzzy inventory model for NVOCC’s returnable containers under empty container repositioning with leasing option

In the classical EOQ model, acquiring cost of an order would be usually paid while receiving its receipt. Sometimes, the supplier may offer the retailer to pay the entire amount or the fraction of acquiring cost in advance as equal number of payments. The present research discusses the EOQ model with substandard products under fuzzy situation. This model deals with the advance payment on acquiring cost, products with substandard quality, and misclassification errors under repair option without scarcity by providing two models. The first model hypothesizes a remittance situation where the advance payment should be paid before the cycle time with some rate of interest which incurred by the supplier while the second model scrutinizes a situation where the prepayment occurs during the time length of the prior cycle which leads the supplier who would offer some price rebate on prepaid quantities. The proportion of improper items and the two kinds of screening errors are considered as the pentagonal fuzzy numbers [PFNs]. A fuzzy EOQ is framed for analyzing the sample, which can obtain the optimal solution. The impact of fuzziness on fraction of substandard products and investigation errors are illustrated for two models with appropriate examples.

Optimization in Fuzzy Economic Order Quantity Model Involving Pentagonal Fuzzy Parameter

The present research develops a two-warehouse economic order quantity (EOQ) model with imperfect products under fuzzy environment. Usually, the acquiring cost for an inventory model should be paid while receiving its receipt. Sometimes the supplier may offer to pay the purchasing amount in advance. Also, the capacity of warehouse plays a vital role in the inventory models. In lockdown situation, there is no supply to the customer throughout the lockdown period and so the inventory level remains stable during that period. This paper scrutinizes the Fuzzy EOQ model with substandard products which incorporates the notion of advance payment, repair option and lockdown situation. The proportion of defective product is considered as triangular fuzzy number. Fuzzy EOQ model is formulated to obtain the optimal order quantity which maximizes the expected annual profit and endorsed with numerical illustration. The sensitivity analysis for the proposed model is performed to show the impact of fuzziness on the proportion of defective rate along with the changes in parameters.
