In Situ Correlations Between Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH) and Pah Metabolizing System Activities in Mussels and Fish in the Mediterranean Sea: Preliminary Results
TL;DR: In this article, biochemical indices based on enzymatic activities have been determined in fish and mussels sampled in various different coastal locations in the Mediterranean Sea, showing a good agreement between biochemical measurements in marine organisms and chemical analyses of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons present in sediments.

Banking of environmental samples for short-term biochemical and chemical monitoring of organic contamination in coastal marine environments: the GICBEM experience (1986–1990)
Ph. Garrigues,J. F. Narbonne,M. Lafaurie,D. Ribera,Philippe Lemaire,C. Raoux,X. Michel,Jean-Pierre Salaün,J.L. Monod,M. Romeo +9 more
TL;DR: The GICBEM (Groupe Interface Chimie Biologie des Ecosystemes Marins) program consists of an evaluation of the ecosystem health status in the Mediterranean Sea mainly based on chemical and biochemical approaches as mentioned in this paper.

Cytochrome P450 Dependent Activities in Mussel and Fish from Coastal Marine Environment: Field Studies on the French Coast of the Mediterranean Sea
TL;DR: Hepatic cytochrome P450 monooxygenase activities including Benzo(a)pyrene hydroxylase (BPH), biomarker of exposure to polycyclic hydrocarbons (PAH) and other organic contaminants like polychlorobiphenyls (PCB) was measured in the microsomal fraction from the fish, Serranus cabrilla (sea comber) liver, and the mussel, Mytilus galloprovincialis, digestive gland.

- 01 Jan 2001
TL;DR: In this paper, the distribution of selected polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) has been investigated in sediments and mussels of different European coastal environments (Baltic Sea, Arcachon Bay, Mediterranean Sea) by gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry.
