Evolution of a paleo-argillic brown earth (paleudalf) from oxfordshire, England
P. Bullock,C.P. Murphy +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the complex developmental history of a paleoargillic brown earth in Plateau Drift has been investigated using mainly micromorphological techniques and eight kinds of pedological features are identified, quantified and related to a probable sequence of soil-forming events.

Point counting pores and illuvial clay in thin section
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that a count of 6000 points over a section area of 25 × 25 mm is sufficient to quantify satisfactorily the pore space of the section.

Faster methods of liquid-phase acetone replacement of water from soils and sediments prior to resin impregnation
TL;DR: In this article, water removal by immersion in acetone of clay, peat and sandy loam soil materials has been monitored by NMR spectroscopy. Water can be removed from soils and sediments more quickly than described previously by using more frequent changes of acetone and by causing gentle movement of the acetone using a magnetic stirrer.

Description of soil thin sections: An international comparison
TL;DR: In this article, seven thin sections were described by seven experienced micromorphologists independently using the Handbook for Soil Thin Section Description, and the main problem areas were in some aspects of description of microstructure and coarse/fine related distribution patterns, coarse to fine limits, coarse basic mineral components, fine material and some pedofeatures.
